Hi mate - yes it was. The earthenware ones are usually no problem, its the plastic traps with tighter radius bends that can make it hard, but I usually get around most of those as well.

How does the flex shaft go at bigger build up's of tree roots? I've only been plumbing for a short amount of time and we use a K750 mostly but it's heavy and a pain in the ass..
@mrdrains2088
3 жыл бұрын
It's not a bad little machine, but its not designed for heavy roots, although I've had some surprising results on the occasional heavy root mass, but you do seriously risk damaging the cable as you can't use torque, just speed.
@johnhubbard3485
Жыл бұрын
I cable and upsell a flex-shaft currently as no room on the trucks for a jetter, I do not want to add a jetter only truck, and my neighborhood does not allow trailers. Curious though I pass a lot of jetter jobs to a friend and most of the time that jetter destroys any roots. Not sure why a flex-shaft would be needed after that unless prepping for relining.
@wendymorrison5803

Is the flex shaft ok in long drain applications? Here the tree roots are not that far down. If its over 20mtrs will jetting be the only option?
@mrdrains2088
3 жыл бұрын
This machine is 70', so roughly 21m & you can use FlexShaft all the way as long as you have enough cable & your drill is strong enough to run the cable size you are using. Jetting is usually easier, but the FlexShaft can allow for quick & precise cleaning of root infiltration.

Seems like their should be a cover on that clean out. Yeah jetting lines seems to be the most efficient way to clear a line. People that think you are crazy are correct. You have to be a little crazy to be a plumber. 🤣Good money, but sometimes the job can drive a guy mad.

Rates can vary significantly across the world, even from town to town. In my city of Wellington NZ charges to private customers range from $150 - $250 per hour & if we are working directly for the customers plumber the plumber will typically receive a 15 - 25% discount as they charge the customer what they want. I've seen rates from other towns as much as $350 per hour+.

Aussie, New Zealand, UK & several other countries where freezing ground temperatures aren't an issue. These are called gully traps & only take grey water into them & the trap connects with the properties main sewer line. One advantage is it gives access into the main line, access to the incoming waste-pipes from the kitchens, bathrooms etc & it also acts as an emergency overflow should the downstream section of the properties main line get blocked.
