I haven't seen this since it was originally broadcast. Such a richly talented cast. So sad that a good 85% of them are no longer with us 💔

So many classic comedy sidekicks in one show! I remember watching this as a kid and it made laugh like hell, watching it now I still get the laughs but the canned laughter over it is horrible lol. RIP Eric, cheers for the laughs.

Practically every comedian of the era was begging him for a cameo role - and he obliged!

The first of these films by Eric Sykes was "The Plank", I believe, with Tommy Cooper and a host of other contemporary comedians, and then followed others like "It's Your Move", "Rhubarb", and "Mr H is Late", some being remade in later years. All were hilariously funny and quite original. Sykes certainly qualified - like his friend and associate Spike Milligan - as a comedy genius!

The first version of "The Plank" 1967 was with Tommy Cooper, the classic version from 1979 with Arthur Lowe. But in fact, not even the -67 version was really the first, previously it had been an episode of Sykes' TV series "Sykes and a..." 1964. All of these can be found on YT, at least when I looked it up some years ago.

When taking a body from an old peoples flat once, we really did have to go into the neighbours flat to get off of the part glazed balcony! In many ways, working for an undertaker was the best job ever.

That is so true, its what i have thought for ages, todays so called comedians and comedy actors are just not likable, they show off, rely on smut to get a laugh, and the fact they dont seem to have any genuine knack for comedy means i cant even watch them, dont know whats happened but the feel and vibe just aint there know more.bbc3 is totally appalling the comedy they make actually makes me cringe, just teenagers, talentless talking dirty.....Think i will stick to these greats.

Great. There's another one in this English series called something like Rhubarb where Sykes and company play golf. Really simple idea, but really funny and inventive, and memorable. Saw it donkeys years ago, but never since. Have you got that one too, by any chance? Thanks for posting this one.
