@CamilleBraiki
Жыл бұрын
@@miriammolinero1446 I never gave a value judgement on the pieces, I only talked about the difficulty. Also, when you are a musician, there’s no need to play a piece to be able to judge it’s difficulty. Alkan’s concerto is probably the most difficult piece of the whole repertoire because of it’s infinite length, it’s atrocious technical challenges and the fact that the text is really hard to memorise. But what makes it even much harder than huge atonal pieces is the fact that it’s a romantic piece and it has to be interpreted as such despite the monstrous overall difficulty.
@miriammolinero1446
Жыл бұрын
@@CamilleBraiki Bla, Bla, Bla. As a musician, you should also know that different techniques all have their own difficulties that you can only truly know from execution. For example, a lot of ragtime music seems simple, but when you try playing with the syncopation, you get thrown off by the different pulse. Playing atonal music is nothing like playing tonal music because ingrained scales & harmonic progressions go out the window. Also, how can you tell which difficulty is more difficult when you can play neither? Even then, how can you say your weaknesses are my weaknesses are the same? So how can you just presume Alkan is hardest when you have no idea how well you can play the other pieces? Seeing notes can only give you an idea, it's not until you take the plunge & play that you can truly know what you are talking about. Otherwise your like a man trying to know what it's like to have a baby. Knowing what pain feels like is not a substitute for the actual expirience.

Good list, but Szymanovski Sonata 3 and Schoenberg 3 Klavierstüke should be way further down the list bc those are much harder than anything by Liszt, Czerny and Beethoven you mentioned here
@gnihcynil2993
Жыл бұрын
Maybe so, but part of the reason why Liszt or Beethoven can be more difficult than modern pieces is because when playing for an audience, modern music is rather simple because most likely the audience doesn’t understand it, so they will not have an opinion on the playing, while when playing Liszt or Beethoven, it is much easier for the audience to judge the performer, more likely in the negative light.
@romanmakarevych4483
Жыл бұрын
@@gnihcynil2993 that could've make sense if we were oriented towards specifically GENERAL audience, but that's some very particular and relative case tbh (bc a lot of audience on that go to recitals today are trained musicians + you can say the same about 'harder' late Romantic music). Anyways, if you stick to playing (including intepretation difficulties) early 20 century stuff according to only score and your own understanding, it's def much harder of a task than with standart rep (esp if the piece doesn't have that much (good) recordings like it is with Szymanovski and Feinberg piano music)

Yeah, I immediately regret putting them there right after i rewatched the video, but it’s to late I guess. I will probably upload another vid in the future. Except not really. John Cage was an avant-garde artist, and through the so-called “silence,” he would find outside activity to be classed as music. Under the 4 minutes & 33 seconds of silence, an audience would’ve been astonished at how a drop of rain or people shuffling in their seats would create a note. He especially loved that the idea of outside activity being classed as music would be boundless & endless. To him, it was art; to others, it was either ridiculous or scary.

You make the term "horrifying" sound vague. What exactly do you mean by it? The difficulty or the emotions the piece envokes? How come Beethoven's Hammerklavier sonata is low on the list? It doesn't remotely sound horrifying. Unless you're referring to the difficulty, then you would be right. I just find the way you rank these pieces confusing. And as a side note, if you're gonna switch to the next Mr. Incredible phase, don't just abruptly cut out a section in a piece. You're making the video long anyway so why do that? I felt like pointing this out because I was really enjoying the finale of Liszt's Sonata in B minor until the video abruptly cut to the next phase without the section being finished yet. Also, please credit the recordings of the pieces. It would be frustrating to take multiple hours of my time just to search through a recording of a performance you sampled.
