mountaindog1 great informative video as always JM...curious to as the main variation/focus is for the standard squat you did first to the second machine squat (I’ve been always under the impression it’s a “power front squat”)? You didn’t get into a ton of info on it outside of form so I was curious to what your focusing on in particular with it...thanks again for the great page!

I got everything done except when i got to the vertical press i've done 15 reps and slept on it for 15min lol...It was very productive ....seriously it was awesome...intense ..the way i love it....

I feel like theres always SOMETHING in johns videos that is a new nugget of wisdom that makes things so much better. In this case its that hip activation bc i too used to try to just stretch and stretch when my hips were tight and it was hit or miss but that activation trick works wonders

One of the best lessons I learned from the dog was doing Leg Ext/Curls in the beginning to get the legs warmed up and blood pumping. I would love to have 10 minutes with him just to talk, about working out, but just to know him. Miss you big dog and I'm still learning from you!

I think that's what a big problem with a lot of new lifters is they don't push themselves. I remember starting from the bottom barely doing 95lb bench press and burning out quick on squats for 135lbs. Now I find it incredible I've surpassed my original 2 plate goal on the big 3 lifts. I avoid deadlifts now but in other areas of strength, training more of a body building style really does help build strength and size. Plus that pump at the end of your session is 🔥🔥

I met Josh at the Arnold Classic Expo and seemed like a good guy. I always look forward to latest In The Trenches about him on the Mountain Dog Diet website. Also found out he used to race BMX with a guy who was my training partner when I was Powerlifting.

My all time favorite day to train legs is Sunday. I refer to it as HOLY LEG DAY! After watching this, I'm going to travel from Brooklyn NY to train legs tomorrow Saturday at Diamond Gym in New Jersey.

When I do squat, a pyramid up with 25s. do about 15 reps my first 2 sets, and after that 5 reps a set till I get to 295, at that point I go one rep shy of failure; this is typically where I gauge my progress. (13 reps is my max at this weight.) I always try to get one rep more than last time with this weight. After that I keep pyramiding up with 25s till I hit my 2 rep max at 445. Last set is a drop set from 345 to 95 dropping 50 pounds at a time. I spend about an hour at the squat rack. I do front squat on the smith machine next, then it’s leg press, afterwards it leg extensions and leg curls. Don’t have time for calves on leg day so I hit them on chest and back day
