A trick to break the crank bolt loose is to put a breaker bar on it with it's handle resting on the garage floor then bump the engine with the starter. Works every time and I've probably done this dozens of times with many makes and models without damaging anything. Just make sure the rotation is correct.

I just recently picked up an interior 12v power and ground adapter. Plugs into a 12v outlet and boom instant power and ground. Makes it far easier when doing anything electrical under a dash or interior I’m general.

OMG those spring loaded magnet deep wells look magnificent! The Subaru crank socket looks awesome too. The M12 die grinder is #1 on my need to have cordless tools list. Awesome list man! All seem like excellent tools. Remind me later to tell you about a crank bolt breaker tool a friend of mine devised.

Instead of magnets, some use a piece of paper towel. Another option is a dab of Shoe Goo glue- very thick before it hardens. Instead of a longer handle, I tap on the handle with a small sledge hammer. If you want to change the handle color, I like the ceramic brake caliper paint from an Advance auto parts store, about $10 for a large spray can and a little paint goes a long way- good coverage. Another tip- Fluid Film spray for motorcycle chains, jacket zippers, and protecting steel and rubber parts. Not for door gaskets- use silicone spray or Mothers VLR spray instead.

Does MAC make these RBRT torx/hex "extractors" or who is the supplier? I noticed S2 steel and thought it was VIM but probably wrong since they are made in Taiwan.

Those Mac hex sockets are interesting but I've always just pounded Torx sockets into stripped Hex sockets and they work great for removal. Yes it destroys the Torx socket but my Napa Carlyle dealer always hands me a new replacement happily. What I would like to see you test is the Makita cordless ratchet, it comes with both 1/4 & 3/8 anvils and spins at 800 RPM. I think it would great for removing the timing cover on that Subaru engine that has 60 + fasteners on it. Me being a motorcycle guy I'll say a 1/4" impact is much better for motorcycles verses any 1/4 electric ratchet as they are much more powerful and faster than any of the cordless ratchets. If you don't want to purchase the Makita I would be willing to send you my own for comparing to your Snapon and Milwaukee. You are one of the few I think could do a honest comparison. kzitem.info/news/bejne/l4ytuZxjoXl7qIY

What is with you auto tech guys not liking air tools? Probably for something like that right angle grinder battery powered is okay. But when it comes to 1/2” or bigger impacts like what i use in a heavy diesel shop, Air is still king. I’d rather drag a hose around than carry a heavy ass huge battery powered impact that doesn’t fit anywhere I need it to.

This is my first MAC dealer in my 32 years. Lol You can call MAC customer service, box up the broken tools, ship it to them, they'll ship you all brand new warrantied out product. My MAC guy was replacing broken stuff for me the whole first 3 months. Still have a couple swivel sockets on back order to finish up the replacements.

you should never use scotch bright on an engine, the pads are aluminum oxide and you will almost never get it all out of the engine, aluminum oxide in an engine leads to bearing failures and wear on bearings cranks rods pistons and piston rings. scotch bright should not even be allowed anywhere near an engine
