This video goes over how to address a low reading or erratic Tachometer in your MR2. It also covers how to update the tachometer to read a low voltage tach signal and to rescale it for a V6 or a V8 application.
Here are the values you will need:
Capacitors: 16V 10uF Electrolytic
Input Resistor: 51k Ohm
9000RPM V6 rescale resistor: 1.31k Ohm
8000RPM V6 rescale resistor: 3.49k Ohm
You can buy all the components together in a set right on my site: frankensteinmotorworks.square...
Here are links to the tools used (Note, links below are amazon affiliate links, I do make a few pennies if you purchase through these links):
Soldering Station: amzn.to/3bjkKLT (this is the updated version of what i use in the garage and more than you need if you're just doing tiny things here and there, this is a nice unit for the rare occasional use: amzn.to/2WmMuLr )
Flush Cutters: amzn.to/3boPevL (these are super handy, the 3 pack is a great deal)
No Clean Solder: amzn.to/2YQq1Yw (note this is leaded solder, it works better but don't eat it)
No Clean Solder Wick: amzn.to/3fHs4ED
