Ms Anita Roper, we thank God for sending you to my school, Reagan Memorial Baptist Girls' Secondary School, Yaba after the vision of Ms Lucille Reagan to educate young African females but also to set a foundation of Jesus Christ in our lives. You ensured that we followed the ethos of our school motto: Love One Another. You sacrificed you own life of having a family to nurture us into becoming great women of the future. I remember on your insistence of daily chapel in the morning at school and assembly time. I learnt many classics hymns today because of your insistence that we each have a Bible and our Sankey Hymn Book. Every student was given one at the start of school. It was like 'gold' because if you lose it, you've got to get another.I lost and bought many of those red hymn books. I remember how you waited in the pathways to pick us out to join the GA and attend meetings. It became a 'hide & seek' matter as you'd give me assignments to memorize certain chapters and verses in the Bible for recitation. You'd invite some of us into your missionary bungalow for Bible studies and a drink of tea in your well but simple decorated living room. You loved our Africa art decor and tropical garden with beautiful plants & flowers. I remember your dog, Tunde, that was your companion, but when let lose in the missionary compound, it would bark and run all over the place behind the locked gates. In my eyes, you were tall and walked elegantly, but in quick steps. We'd giggle when you mispronounce our names or call it with an American intonation. Some of the girls would take delight in letting you call out the names with your accent so they can truantly giggle away. You barely smacked anyone with a cane, and I never heard you shout at anyone. I can go on but stop here. Enjoy your rest with the Lord.

My life was molded for God and humanity largely by your works and impact at the Girls Auxiliary of the Nigerian Baptist Convention. The Ede camp was home with you in there. Your kind words and demeanor at all time made knowing Jesus more attractive. Thank you and Rest well dearest mama Roper.
