What is the significance of setting the start and end times and number of hours in a day in the options menu? What does that affect? How does that work when you have multiple calendars with different hours per day? Oh, I see you addressed that. It affects what a day is considered when you offset a task by 1 day. Specifically, I'm wondering how I should have project take into account that I am meant to spend 75% of my time on this project. I want to be able to assign myself to tasks and make it so I only have 6 hours in a day to do the tasks. So if I estimate a task will take me 24 hours, that shouldn't be 3 days, that should be 4 days. But I want to be able to assign other tasks to other people that have other percentages of their time devoted to the project. Is this best accomplished with custom calendars with custom work times? Or is there another way to represent the concept of "percent of time towards a project"?

Hi Eric assign yourself 75 percent to the task but do it on the first assignment. If you assign yourself and then change to to 75 percent it lengthens the task called effort driven scheduling which most often is incorrect

Hello Tom. Thank you for your Video it was very informative. I have a question. I am working on a project that will run for two shifts Day Shift & Night Shift. I have created two Calendars for the two shifts. The Day Shift Calendar is very much okay, however, things get messed up in the nightshift calendar. I need to define the "From" to be 7:00 P.m. & "To" to be 7:00 am of the next day. My night shift calendar doesn't pick that up. once I save it reverts to day hours which is not what I want. How can I resolve this to ensure my calendar runs from Pm to am of the following day?

Came here for this exact question. Please let me know what you find out. I’m trying to do the same 12hr shifts with also the same start time of 7:00pm until 7:00am for night and a 7:00am to 7:00pm for days.

you have to do this in 2 lines, set the start time 7 pm and end the time at 12.59pm in line 1 then in line2, set the start time 12.00am and end time as 6.59am

You can use a resource calendar once it the resource is created as work. Then you can assign it.
