Hi there. I was a tour guide, semi-retired now, here in Halifax for 15 years. Watching your video and seeing the places as you're walking around made me think, "Man, what I could tell her about those places."...lol. For instance, the first lighthouse you saw coming into the harbour: Before there was a lighthouse there, there was scaffold from which hung a gibbet. And in it would the body of an executed pirate or criminal. It was a warning to anyone coming into port. The old cemetery -- The Old Burying Ground -- contains the grave of Major General Sir Robert Ross, partly responsible for the burning of the US Presidential Mansion -- The White House -- during the war of 1812. Across the street from St Mary's Basilica is the NS Supreme Court, and behind was buried in... 1756? the British and chiefs of the Mi'kmaq people literally, buried the hatchet. And I actually started working in tourism at Peggy's Cove back in 1998. I agree that 3 hours is not long enough for a Peggy's Cove tour. But keep in mind, that's the cruise line's doing. The shore excursion managers from the different lines will be driven out to The Cove, see what there is in the area, then decide what the tour will include and how long it will be. They do this every few years.

@@johnt8636 Hi John, thank you for all of these very interesting facts! Especially the lighthouse location history! You should do a tour of Halifax, if possible. I would definitely book with you. If you were my bus tour guide, I would most certainly not have fallen asleep. I know a lot of people don’t like history but I think it very interesting to learn about the locations I visit. I understand it’s the cruise company dictating the time limit of the tours. Which is why I said MSC I’m disappointed in this tour. They need to rethink the time for this tour. It’s a very beautiful city. Thank you again for the above information. Take care and thank you for watching. X Debbie
