Hey really good video. I've been researching for awhile and decided this was the best montior for me. Your review influenced that decision as well. But looking online I've found central dead pixels to be a common issue. I don't know if a stress test is possible or brand reccomendations should be considered, any info would help thanks.

Unfortunately people are far more keen to post when they have issues compared to when they don't. I've seen this with models in the past where I've personally received a lot of positive feedback and most samples are 'good', it's just you don't hear as much about those. It's not practical for us to do any sort of stress test (not only due to time constraints but because this model was returned to MSI after review). It's something I keep an eye on as it shapes longer term recommendations, but I'm not concerned about this model and its QC at this stage.

Glad you like the detail! I think for competitive gaming the 240Hz refresh rate can provide a nice edge (assuming your frame rate is suitably high). So you'll probably enjoy the extra refresh rate more than the extra gamut from the QD backlight. 🙂

@PCMonitors
29 күн бұрын
They're not uncommon, unfortunately. When there are >10 million subpixels to go defective some unfortunately might do so. My general advice is to try to get used to a monitor with dead pixels unless they're really obvious (for example towards the central region) or prepare to return a few times. This applies regardless of model, although in my experience the OLED models suffer much less from this sort of thing. They of course have other issues to be aware of and there aren't any options in the same price bracket as the MSI.

@@PCMonitors Just bought this monitor after your recommendation, just because of this comment checked the monitor, saw nothing even on tester, one day later 2 stuck pixels appeared, maybe I didn't see them there before because I slept for 3 hours and was excited, I have never had such problem and nobody in my family has had such problems, 2 dead pixels would probably be nothing buy its 2 stuck pixels one near the center bright red and the other blue not that far away from center too, I hope return works here because it's not as simple as in the US. Very good monitor if not for quality control, they should do something like with CPU's, they could lower the price if there is something wrong with them.

The short answer is; not to that extent. Longer answer... That's a uniformity issue that varies between units and can apply to pretty much any model in this segment. My unit didn't have that extent of uniformity issue at all, excluding some extreme periperhal measurement points where most LCDs especially with dual-stage bezels may have a cooler tint. For example towards the top edge when observing the Lagom text with light grey background (20:27). That strip and certainly the 'bright spot' mentioned there wasn't visible from a normal viewing position or angle but could potentially be picked up by a colorimeter like it was the camera. It's also worth noting that models with very wide gamuts (QD LEDs like this) can have greater perceived white point shifts at different points of the panel.

Ok listen! I was between all those 3 monitors and i still am. I read on internet that the Dell one varies as a product, some ppl saying that they got flickering or worst collors and other say that their product has too much ghosting. So i guess the Dell is kinda a gamble so i stopped looking for it ( it is the cheaper one i believe) Im loving the asus in a lot of aspects yet some ppl say that it has some weird coating on its panel and it can look kinda grainy, smugdy blah blah blah when viewing white/bright areas and another con is its contrast, while many IPS monitors have 1000:1 this one has 900:1. The factory color callibration ppl say is good (monitors unboxed had it tested in the same category with some OLED monitors). It has ELMB Sync which is one of the best implementations ppl say have seen in a monitor. The response time is great aswell probably the best between these 3 monitors. It shouldn't - per the review gamma was actually too low which brightens up dark shades a bit more than intended. At least it was like that on my unit. But 'IPS glow' will eat away at detail towards the corners and peripheral regions of the screen. If you want to 'artificially' boost detail you could use the 'Night Vision' feature (kzitem.info/news/bejne/1Hmqvm1tboaCh4osi=4mXklZaXTgE89tfP&t=425 ) or adjust gamma in your graphics driver.

I've seen countless reports of issues over the years with models using panels of all vendors (including AUO and LGD). BOE's mobile displays may be terrible, specific form factors built in specific fabs poor or certain panels subpar. But don't extrapolate that out onto all panels they make. Ironically LGE have themselves switched to using BOE's 27" and ~32" '4K' UHD in the past due to a weird green corner bleed issue with LGD's own panels (example - www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/bg0igj/corner_of_my_lg_4k_monitor_turn_green_does_anyone/ ). Anyway, I have no qualms about recommending this monitor, regardless of panel manufacturer. I've received some good longer term feedback on the VX2728J-2K which is based on the same panel. Obviously if there seems to be an abnormally high failure rate for the MSI or any other recommended model in the future then I won't actively recommend it any more.
