mack cummy surprise! This was also when Jeep introduced only for ‘98 (the year this aired on TV) the predecessor to the SRT and later Trackhawk Grand Cherokee; the Grand Cherokee 5.9 Limited. High performance SUVs were fewer back then than they are today.

Crazy how our standards of fast have changed over the years. Still love to have one to stick a supercharged 5.4 in it and make it look factory.

i love the thing.. its a piece of history. the old 302's are slouches from the factory 215hp, and that centrifugal supercharger is pushing very low boost, 5lbs... maybe 5.5lbs? if you put a good set of flowing heads, bigger cam and good intake with smaller pulley and tune i bet 475bhp from that 302.. im building an 800+ hp pushrod 302 based motor.. its not a factory block or stroke of course but its still a ford 302 casting. and yes im building it so its steetable

They should've made a 240 hp turbocharged HD 4.0L Sohc motor with not a 5 speed but a 7R75E auto trans with a extra gear before 1st gear and another gear between the 3rd and 4th gear of the 5 speed auto, now that would be fast.

Are these worth any money now. I know a lot of Saleen Mustangs hold their value pretty wel
@xxZerosumxx

They are rare. The issue is that they dont make replacement ground effects. So if something breaks thats it. So i believe they do hold their value

LOL, the host/narrator has gotta have the driest sense of humor I've ever seen on tv. Even funnier is a lot of the things he's saying was pretty acceptable back in 1998.

Yes he did. Jim Scoutten's dry humor is in stark contrast to today's presenters with "wet" senses of humor. HA HA HA HA!!!! Sorry, I just felt like saying "wet sense of humor".

Mr. Kyptik I also enjoyed this show (Motor Trend TV on TNN the Nashville Network) as well. This originally aired between 1996 and 1998. It was what replaced Road Test Magazine which was hosted by Larry Black and “Big Daddy” Don Garlits.

proof that DOHC 5.0 v8s were far superior to that old cast iron pushrod lump of shit even the 4.6's were much better. but in defense of that old 302 it was meant to be a low revving torque engine for a truck not something rev happy and free breathing and when reworked can make a lot of power.
