Having read a few trip reports I expected us to be turning up the avalanche gulley after the 6th bridge. This however came too soon and we passed bridge 8 before heading up at the 4.5km mark. There have likely been a couple more bridges added since those reports due to the flood of 2013.
What was a pretty easy hike initially became arduous once we were partway up the avalanche gulley and had started up the loose rock to gain the ridge. I hated this part. Some minor scrambling up just before the summit. The summit views are truly amazing up here though which did provide some solace for the horrible rock on the way up to the ridge. Roughly 1350m elevation gain and 15kms. Slightly off in the video. Sorry.
Disclaimer - Always scramble within your own abilities. Thoroughly assess the situation and research the route. Just because I may have done this route at this time doesn't mean you can or should. GPS and/or a topo map are a valuable tool to help. Leave a route description behind with exact location should you not arrive home at a predetermined time. Have a way to contact rescue as well if you are in an area of no cell service(SPOT, Garmin, etc.). Also, if hiking in winter make sure you have the necessary skill and knowledge regarding unstable conditions and perform a proper risk assessment prior to engaging in this activity.
