As soon as I saw that this trail was already open after the pandemic, an earthquake and a fire I immediately signed up!
Obviously my favorite mountain, it is the highest in Luzon and the third highest in the country.
Our initial target was to spend the first night in Marlboro campsite but due to logistics, our team leads decided to spend our first night at Eddet camp which allowed us to get our well deserved and much needed rest before hiking up what most call "the killer trail." As if the steep incline of the trail was not enough it rained while we were in the mossy forest so please catch some tips I shared on what to do when you get caught in the rain up in the mountains. Hope they help.
We spent our second night up the saddle camp where we witnessed a beautiful rainbow and thanks to a fellow participant (Sir Dioshico Jay Amores) he was able to take a beautiful picture of the Milky Way.
Day 3 for me was mostly about getting up the peak and going down to Camps 2 and 1 and to our final spot for lunch which was 5Js Campsite and Homestay the shortest time I can.
I would like to also mention Sir Christoper Dela Paz for letting me share his photo of Akiki trail's resident bird of prey and for sharing some coffee which in truth saved my life from hypothermia on Day 2 since the rain and the cold was getting to me by the time I got to Saddle Camp.

Safe trails everyone!
