Mount Storm King is a very popular hike just off Lake Crescent. It might be short at only 4 miles round trip but it is steep! After a flat 0.5 miles on the trail it shares with Marymere falls, the trail to Mt. Storm King ascends 2,065 feet in 1.5 miles!
Well known for the series of 3 ropes you can use to get to the summit (and the harder back down again), this hike has a lot of loose rock and loose soil at the top, with an easier rock scramble to get the iconic shot at the peak. For those afraid of heights, don't worry there is actually an overlook that would show you a similar view from the top without having to go through the ropes.
To make the hike more memorable, I would suggest starting off with the easier Marymere Falls. If you attempt to finish with the falls, you might not want to after hiking Mt. Storm King!
No pass is needed to park at this trail, however since it shares the parking lot with the Lake Crescent lodge, Lake Crescent boat dock and the easier Marymere falls, it is a popular spot and finding parking on the weekends might be more challenging.
