I honestly think these are some of the best planeswalker decks they've come out with so far. A big part of that seems to be that they went out of their way to avoid just throwing a bunch of vanilla creatures into them. It's a simple change, but one that I think makes a huge difference.

@@BrainPulp Yeah the deck quality seems to have risen since Spark, my Gideon deck is pretty formidable and the Mu/Ajani Core 2020 decks have impressed me for being casual decks. The tradeoff seems to be a single booster instead of two, but I can live with that if the decks are more fun. Besides I pulled the mythic Sorin from my Mu's booster, pretty much pays for the deck. 👍🏻

maybe it's just me but i like the creatures (or whatever card) that get a bonus for having a planeswalker on the battlefield. i'm a little disappointed that most of the core set 2020 planeswalker decks don't have said cards in them. but i still love the chandra deck and can't wait for you to open up the rest.

Great video Ed. I was thinking a interesting option for upgrading this deck is by dropping some of the top end and putting in cavalcade of calamity and additional 1 power creatures such as footlight fiend or goblin instigator. Each from cavalcade trigger Chandra’s spitfire’s ability. I pulled a Chandra awakened inferno in my first paper draft. Good way to start the new format. I enjoyed the stream. I hope they keep coming.
@BrainPulp
5 жыл бұрын
Now that you mention Cavalcade of Calamity I'm betting that would also work well with Thunderkin Awakener too...I've got to test this out online when I get a chance. Also nice pull! Unless I'm mistaken, that card alone probably would've paid for your entire draft! :)
@joshuagriffith9191

I hadn’t thought of Thunderkin awakener. That looks like a fun card that I am interested to see if somebody breaks in some type of elemental reanimation deck. It will probably not be top tier but somewhat cheap and fun to play. Yes. It paid for my draft. It was a lucky weekend. I pulled 3 mythics one being foil and a second foil rare in a 10 pack bundle. As well as pulling a Yarok in a draft. I feel my luck is going to fall the other way hard soon.

My BF bought me the Mu deck and he bought the Ajani deck, and I'm honestly quite impressed at how well these play. Seems like Planeswalker decks since War of the Spark have upped their game a bit. Obviously not tournament level but anyone who's had the bad fortune of playing the Ral deck from GRN know what I mean, yech.

It'll still be a little while before I release the Mu overview, but I can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised by that deck! I often find blue-based Planeswalker Decks to be a bit on the weaker side and/or disappointing, but in my opinion that deck is easily the best blue Planeswalker deck they've created so far. I hope you two are having fun with them!

I would have liked it if wotc would have thrown in 2-4 cryptic caves into each of those planeswalker decks. Would have made the decks more powerfull, interessting and more resiliant against flooding.
@BrainPulp
5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I think that would've been a solid addition to the decks. At the very least I wish Wizards would've thrown a few into Chandra's and Ajani's since there is absolutely no extra card draw, and they could really have used something like the Caves mid to late game.

Thanks! And yeah, the plan right now is to mention and link back to this video if folks are totally new to Planeswalker decks and didn't watch it first. There will always be some redundant info in each video so I'll still be giving viewers a heads up about that along with timecode bookmarks to help navigate the video, but that particular section will only be found here. Then, before the next set comes out, I want to do a single stand-alone "Everything you need to know about Planeswalker Decks" video which I can just mention and link back to at the beginning of every new overview video so that I no longer have to record and edit something similar with each and every new expansion. It'll also allow me to be a lot more thorough with the info in it while at the same time making it easier for folks to skip if they want to. Plus, that way I'll only need to revisit or revamp that subject once every couple years (I hope!) if/when Wizards goes ahead and makes some sort of major changes to the decks.

Hi I'm just getting into Magic. I was wondering, do I have to buy 4 of these decks to have a competent deck (like 3 in yugioh structure decks) or is one enough ?
@BrainPulp
5 жыл бұрын
One is enough, so I personally wouldn't suggest you go out and buy four copies of the deck. That said, I would definitely recommend tweaking the deck a bit with some extra singles. However, if you're looking for a more competitive style deck that comes right out of the box, you might want to check out the Challenger Decks instead. They're far more competitive than the planeswalker decks even without any extra tweaking.

Hey Nikola. I think both are worth buying, but if I had to choose just one it would most likely be the Sorin deck. Pretty much for the same reason Taboo mentioned, which is it's a good base for a Vampire tribal deck, which I think would be a fun thing to tweak and upgrade. That's just me though. So if you're more of a red player, I can see why you'd prefer to go with Chandra. :)

What would you think if I thought about enhancing the goblin and dragon aspect?
@BrainPulp
4 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I think when it comes to these decks if you find a particular aspect of it that you like or think has upgrade potential you should go for it! When I was first getting back into magic a lot of the time I would just see even a single cool card in a pack or something and then try to build a deck around it from there. A lot of the time I failed miserably, but I enjoyed it and learned from the deck building/upgrading experience.

If you're new to the game I think this would be a very good type of product to start with as long as you're playing against other folks using similar decks (and you can check out a few of my thoughts on upgrading it a bit near the end of the video). However, if you're playing against more competitive decks I'd suggest looking into some of the 2019 Challenger decks. They'll be harder to learn, but they've got way more kick to them which makes it easier to keep up with stronger decks. Either way, good luck and I hope you have fun!
