It's the first deck tech of Amonkhet standard! I've chosen GR Gods for the first deck of the season because I think this deck has the legs to really show up in Amonkhet Standard. Bloodrage Brawler and Rhonas the Indomitable have proven to be an incredible one-two punch, and Brawler can help clear your hand for Hazoret or discard that Honored Hydra so you can play a 6/6 on turn 4 to go along with your 4/3 and your 5/5 God. Along with Brawler, Noose Constrictor can help get cards out of your hand for Hazoret, and a turn 2 Snake followed by a turn 3 Rhonas into a turn 4 Hazoret is certainly a powerful turn sequence.
Something else from Amonkhet that's proven itself in testing is Glorybringer. You won't see everybody play two in the main deck (I suspect Glorybringer will be in a lot of sideboards), but it's been severely hot for me so far, so much that I think it deserves a couple of slots, especially given its interaction with Arlinn Kord.
Speaking of Arlinn, I've begun to believe that she's one of the most improved cards in this new format. In this deck, she buffs Noose Constrictor and her own wolf tokens so they turn on Rhonas, she can crew Heart of Kiran (which can also turn on Rhonas on turn 4), she makes Glorybringer a 6/6 flying haste vigilance dragon that eats one of your opponent's creatures. AND she can anthem all of our creatures or bolt stuff.
The deck finishes off with a few Lightning Axes to make it easier to empty our hand, a playset of Fiery Temper to take advantage off all the discarding we'll be doing, and a 3-of Oath of Nissa to help make sure we get the turns 2-3-and-4 plays that we need.
If you like playing the best creature possible on every turn (in terms of raw p/t numbers), then G/R Gods is the deck for you. And best of all, while it's not exactly a budget deck, it's price tag is only about $200 on TCGPlayer, which is a steal compared to what you could be spending on a standard deck right now.
