Do any of you remember those manipulative ads about the withdrawal of channels from what was then called Viacom with images of SpongeBob crying? Well, let me tell you, that shit was happening for a long time back in the 80s. At some point some cable operators would have the balls to remove MTV from their channel lineup, and their response was obviously immediate. These promos were the opposite of MTV's visual image at that time, showing a rather cold image instead of the lively and colorful one that characterized it. Here you can see some then-well-known stars of the channel protesting about the departure. I don't know the exact year and which cable operator these messages were directed to, but this suggests that it was in the middle 1980s when MTV was in full swing.
