After all those years, MTV made the biggest mistake to NOT give Britney Spears at least ONE Moonman when she was in her prime. Robbed from 1999-2004 for her most ICONIC and legendary videos that skyrocketed her career..... "Baby", "Crazy", "Oops", "Stronger", "Slave", and "Toxic". I believe MTV decided to wake up and give Britney her first moonman in 2008 out of pity, over her personal life..... which in reality..... it was them who caused it. Thank goodness, she's free but the fucking media and industry ruined her.

@@lynnpear20 that is still true to this day. Only when it comes to her tho. Madonna and Janet are much weaker vocally than Britney in her early days and are still a tiny bit more respected than Britney, within the industry. It’s ridiculous especially given the state of music these days - you have the likes of Olivia Rodrigo or whatever her name is,Dua lipa and many many others… cannot really sing,and definitely aren’t one seventh of the performer,dancer,star that Britney Spears was. A lot of people are complaining about Britney being robbed for not getting an award that night, and yes you are right! Britney was taking MTV to new levels in pop music. But let's be real one on one, if you compare Britney's talent to other people of her category Macy Gray, Aaliyah, Lauren Hill, etc; Britney has no business there. She was the most famous tho, but I loved the fact that MTV at that point was more interested in raw talent than just fame status before giving an award. And yes her performance was great in 2000! Everybody at school was talking about it! However the real performance that people still talk until this day was then all the Slim Shadys took over the Radio City Hall, that was when Eminem took the world class status and if you see all the nominees of those VMA's , he's one of the very few ones who is still on his two legs doing great things! (Superbowl 2022 for example) . The last of a dying breed.
@welfare_king

Well, the award is based on who has the best music video, not "raw talent". And, if you want to be "real on one", it's not like those RnB chicks like Aalyiah were powerhouse vocalists either.
