@MTGGoldfish As a long term Legacy MUD deck player, this is an interesting deck. In legacy as much as it is a ramp deck, it's more a hate deck. Chalice and Trinispheres for Combo, Wurmcoil for Monored, Sundering Titan for Control and midrange. You really don't want to bring something in or out in the matchup unless your opponent has huge difficulty winning through it consistently if it's the only card you play. Your cards are better than there's, so so you need to slow down the game enough that you draw to your outs. In modern, there are a lot fewer general tools that it makes it very difficult to build a deck able to hate out each deck in the format, so you sort of have to pick and choose your targets based on what you expect the field to be. It's part of the problem control has. I feel that you might getter a better feeling for what the deck is trying to do if you play a bit more with the Legacy version. www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/1725608#paper Here's my list if you want to try playing around with it sometime.
@ahunter7563
5 жыл бұрын
I really feel like the thing that kill this deck isn't the fact that hate is less focused/worse like you said (or atleast that's what i understood) but it's mostly the whole garbage package with the counter and 0 mana artifacts that allow to ramp quickly. In legacy,the lands and a couple of good cards take care of that,but really here half of his deck is just air and that's why it's so dependant in variance; drawing bad hate is still better than drawing useless cards. I think those deck will never be "competitive" (meaning,not getting rekt by variance as hard) as long as good fast mana (mostly the solands) is not in modern,and that's never going to happen because it would break the format.

At 17:20 after you played that Darksteel Citadel off the Ancient Stirrings: You could have tapped three Citadels, the Everflowing Chalice and the Mox for 5 Mana. Then activate Kuldotha Forgemaster that´s on the battlefield, sac the three Citadels and get Lightning Greaves. Then, with the 5 Mana in your pool cast the Kuldotha Forgemaster from your hand, Equip Lithning Greaves, activate kuldotha Forgemaster saccing herself, the Mox and the Everflowing Chalice and get whatever big creature from your deck that you want (Blightsteel, Angel, whatever) and equip that to the lightning greaves. Still not a secured win but definitely worth the try i think. Great video, love the deck! :)

hey at 17:20 (match 2, game 1), you could have had a hasted Blightsteel that turn. It may have one you the game... depending on how long your opponent had that Scapeshift in hand. Here's the play: Cast the second Forgemaster and chalice on zero. Use the first Forgemaster to get boots into play and equip to the second Forgemaster. Use the second Forgemaster to get Blightsteel. He has to block with the titan and likely loses next turn.

Game 1 against Amulet Titan wasn't over just yet, I think... It depends on whether you planned on attacking with that Blightsteel or having a staring contest with it, and it depends on if you draw an artifact with 3cmc or less on your turn. I'm assuming if the opponent didn't scoop he'd pop Explosives before your turn or on your upkeep to get rid of your Worm tokens and Cornucopia. If you attack and don't have a cheap artifact to play, you're dead over 2 turns even through Platinum Angel. If you attack and have a cheap artifact to play you win because opponent can't stop a second attack from Blightsteel and can still get Platinum Angel if necessary. If you leave Blightsteel to block, you probably win over a much longer game.

I love the deck. Frankly, I think the people that were all running a ton of artifact hate are making a fair bit of a meta mistake, and just lucked out that they ran into a jank artifact deck. They spent so many sideboard slots on artifact hate, when artifacts are just not a premier threat in Modern right now. These people are gonna get run over by the tier decks like Death's Shadow, Dredge and Phoenix. I feel like the sideboard really should have at least 2 GY hate pieces. Warping Wail also seems very important. But the person who 5-0'd with it clearly built the SB with Phoenix/Death's-Shadow in mind, and that might be the better call.
