I also marched with Muchachos 1968 - 1975. If you see a picture of our last number, I'm next Jeff, holding up the #1 hand salute. The crowd was amazing that night.

I wish I could time warp modern drum corps fans back to 1974 or 1975, sit them on the 50 yard line, and watch their reaction to the volume of the brass lines.

I agree with you 100% call GCI n d c a is turn the activity into a marching band competition, superimposed on the three ring circus today it's more like a dance program doing ballet with costumes . We no longer have real drum and bugle c o r p s former member of the Long Island sunrises 1964 through 1968. Also former member of the Floyd Bennett golden eagles from Brooklyn New York 1960 and 1961 as a snare drummer❤❤❤

when I was in high school at Kosciusko, MS back in the mid and late 70's our band took the field using a piece composed by one of our members titled "Muchachos", which was a composite piece taken from this show. Your Drum and Bugle Corp gave our band much inspiration and we admired your talent greatly. Thanks for posting this as it brings back many good memories.

Kerchner's Pictures of Spain was/is an all-time drum corps classic... maybe the best ending of a production ever, plus Kievit's solo. Delucia's drum line was unbelievable. If not for the DQ in 75 they might have gone on to be a perennial DCI power. And (just a guess, with Kerchner & Delucia locked in at Muchachos) maybe no Bridgemen, at least the way they were.

As a 76,77,78 Bridgemen, I Never thought of that. Our Class b corps- OLS STORMY KNIGHTS, played Kerschner music( he wrote for both those years), so we were torn between Bayonne Bridgemen and Hawthorne Muchachos in the fall of 75.

Though many disagree with me, I like Madison's 1980 version much better than their 1988 version that had too much dead space in its middle. But wow, does this Muchachos' version ever hop! Less technical intricacy, maybe due to the rotary valve horns, but so much raw emotion! Just unbelievable!

As a Bridgemen 76,77,78, we toured with Madison Scouts in 77/78. That 78 version off the line was amazing also. But 88 with the drill- Spin around Tops them all in my opinion.
