It was said that Mackinley Morganfield , had the presence of an African chief, which I can well believe. His music was brilliant, whether written by him, Willie Dixon or Bo Diddley. Always remember seeing The Stones being interviewed on Ed Sullivan show. We're asked what they wanted to do in the US. Brian Jones replied, meet Muddy Waters; Ed's reply was. Where's that?

It’s shocking how ignorant white America was to an art form that originated on their own soil: the blues. It took a white man to sell this music to white audiences: Elvis. Even when the British Invasion was happening white America was still way behind the times. White audiences in Britain and Europe couldn’t get enough of this good stuff.

@@SigmaWarrior1978 About 20 years ago I had an American visitor - a professor of electronic engineering. I took him to a pub in Bristol for the Tuesday blues evening. He said he had never heard music like this before. What kind of music is it?

Many a night we have all rolled and tumbled as the horrors of what we have done and what we have lost through our drunken behaviours roll around our head and won't let us sleep. That's what this is about. This song heavily influenced Alabama 3 - "Woke Up This morning" (Sopranos theme tune).

+Άκης Κακαγής You're just not very familiar with his earlier recordings. This is from 1950. He was younger. There are even earlier field recordings of him from 194-42.
