Hi Everyone,
Firstly, just so it's clear, the mudlarking footage on this video was filmed well before the UK lockdown. There is currently no mudlarking permitted along the River Thames until further notice, and that includes me of course! Im using footage I've had in my files and I have a lot of it! So, now Ive got that over with - Join me on a virtual mudlark on the River Thames foreshore where I search for London's history in the gloopy mud. Resarching my finds once I get home is part of the fun and allure of mudlarking - but Im also glad of your help in identifying my finds or in learning new information about them. It's always special when there is a personal link to a mudlarking find. In today's video, which was filmed before the lockdown, I find a very old mug which has lain in the mud for sometime. What better thing to do than put the kettle on and make a cup of tea!
Pipes, buttons, coins and other delights - what has the River Thames thrown out to find today. Come along and see.
You do need a permit from the Port of London Authority to mudlark on the River Thames and you can find out the info on their website as well as the other requirements to mudlark on the Thames. They are currently not accepting applications due to the ongoing situation.
Thank you for watching. You can follow me on @tidelineart on twitter and instagram to see more finds and stories from our giant liquid story book, the River Thames.
