Ali was the absolute BEST boxer in the history of boxing, in my opinion. His "bravado", which in part was an act to create tension and anticipation for the world of fight fans; his ability to put challengers down; his speed and power; his smoothness when dancing around the ring; and his class and compassion at the end of his fights. Not only that, but watch the movement of his hands always reminds me of a cat. So quick. So smooth. So fast!!! Ali made it look as though he was a cat on the hunt. Simply masterful!!!! His impact on me will remain until the Lord takes me home. Met him when I was 12 in a "foster" home in Albany. He was promoting an upcoming fight at some armory. He looked donw at me and said something (don't remember what) and then knelt down and started pawing at me (boxing) and hit me on the chin, then hugged me and patted me on my head. At 64 yrs I still do and always will remember that fondly.

You gotta give Bob Foster a bit of credit for trying this fight. Probably the paycheque had something to say. Everybody said Foster was gonna get slaughtered, World Champ Light Heavyweight in a match with the guy that was prowling the heavyweight division, the greatest, just waiting for his next shark attack. Foster was a gutsy guy.but judging by what I see here, Ali was so big and fast, and Foster looked like he had been starving himself to death. No way. Ali was playing with him, trying to make ticket sales worth their money. I figure Muhammad said I'll let him ride for a few rounds, let him look like a champion, and then crush him. Looks like he did exactly that. Ali destroyed Bob Foster.

Is Bob Foster the only guy to have cut Muhammad Ali and drew blood? Since Ali always punches the head he has a little bit difficult time against people who weave and bob their head. Had Bob Foster kept his guard higher and used his right a bit more (he hardly used his right) a fight would have been well on or at least gone the full distance. Ali fights different fighters differently. Even in this fight where it looked easy Ali ALWAYS kept his guard high knowing the damage this "thin" Bob Foster could do... and Ali judged right cause Bob Foster cut Ali.
