Let’s not forget Patterson was no bum!! Trained by Cus D’Mato and was the youngest heavyweight champ before Tyson broke his record. Ali simply destroyed him twice as he would not call Ali his name but referred to him as Clay.

Ali called him Rabbt,Uncle Tom and all other names in the book first. They've known each other since 1959 and Floyd helped him out a great deal. What did Ali expect from him, respect for disrespecting his brother for no reason? Ali did that to Joe Louis and Joe Frazier also which he deeply regreted. Ali appologized Floyd over and over and told him that he was the only one can call him Cassius only besides his own mom. Floyd was the one got him the license to fight Oscar Bonavena in MSG which made Ali possible to fight Joe Fraizier in MSG. Floyd and Joe were the only people who supported Ali when he needed it the most and when he had no one. Imagine what their families had to go through. You just don't call people Uncle Tom in public for no reason especially back in the days. And those were all very good people too ! Ali was a great fighter inside the ring, but he was an obnoxious brat/ an asshole when he was younger.

What in hell were these 2 announcers talking about? "Patterson a middleweight and Ali is a light heavyweight" they were both ex heavyweight champs at the time! These announcers did their broadcast post fight when the result was already known so they made it seem like a one sided fight. It was a surprsingly competitive fight. Patterson was by no means "Taken apart" BS. I was there at ringside. The fight was stopped on a cut , an old injury from the Johansson fights. As you get older these cuts can open easier on aged skin. It opened in every one of his comeback fights. Better coverage of this fight was done by Howard cosell. These guys are jerks.

Despite being a undersized heavyweight and getting knocked down probably more than anyone, Floyd always tried getting up. He was all heart and let it out all on the line. I would’ve loved to have seen a prime marciano vs a prime Patterson. Rocky would’ve broken him down after 15 rounds and if he didn’t knock him out early would’ve made him think twice about fighting again. Liston took him out early but Rocky doesn’t have listons punch. 😅
