Thoracic Spine SNAGS:
• Anatomical considerations:
Facet Orientation 70‐80 degrees in frontal plane.
Patient Position:
Patient straddles end of plinth with back toward end of plinth.
Therapist Position/Contact:
Position yourself on the side you are rotating toward
Reach one hand around the upper chest and place it on lateral scapula
Place the the ulnar aspect just distal to the pisiformof the supinated, horizontal other hand on the transverse process of the level indicated.
Mobilization:
Glide cranially.
Sustain the glide and ask the patient to rotate.
Apply pain‐free over‐pressure with the anterior hand.
Thoracic SNAG - rotation:
Movement:
If on pain, then do repetitions with over‐pressure.
Recheck their rotation movement after.
Variations:
If pain occurs or motion does not improve.
Attempt slight changes in direction of glide
Attempt less force
Attempt more force
Change the contact point: Up or down a level Centrally Contralaterally.
