If it's not clear in the video, the first monitor I'm using (On the little tripod) is connected to the HDMI output of the Atem Mini. The 2nd monitor I hook up is connected between one of the cameras and an input of the switcher.

I would like to personally thank you for your great videos. My church recently started streaming services and I have used your videos to get up to speed and purchase equipment. We purchased the Canon camcorders that you recommended as well as the ATEM mine and use OBS software. Recently, I added 3 more cameras to the set up for some static views (pulpit, etc). Your videos have been a lifesaver. I cannot thank you enough for your time and work. Much appreciated!!

Excellent review especially with HDMI length and setup for longer runs. As for Multi-View, if it is necessary I would recommend the ATEM Mini PRO which does have multi-view built in for only about $250 more. For us we only have 2 Camera's and for our small church that is plenty, so the ATEM Mini is perfect, even if we add 3rd or 4th camera, in the near future. Keep up the great videos.

We have the BM Production 4K, and I remember asking in an earlier video if getting the Mini aswell for streaming would work, it was thought of as overkill, but so far its working well. Our cameras thankfully output HDMI and SDI, so we're running SDI (using BNC cable even) for almost 50m and then using the MicroConverter to conv to HDMI to input into the Mini, while using the SDI out loop as input into the Production 4K, so the Prod4K multiview is working as a multiview for our Mini stream aswell. Looking forward to the lyrics & graphics video!

Your KZitem is now very helpful to our church. And it is also factually reflected. I am a senior pastor in our church. I would like to hear your opinion on upgrading the system this time. Current situation: We make our own tracks for every service and play them on Ableton. The lights and subtitles are also synchronized and playing music. It is streaming service.Proceeds with a thorough Ableton Sync. What I would like to upgrade is I want to serve with better mixed streaming. I'm thinking about what to do for this upgrade. 1. I'm replacing the Mixer this time. M32R (Main Mixer) + M32R (Streaming Mixer) + DANTE Will you do this? 2.M32R (Main Mixer) + Xcore Rack (Streaming Mixer) + DANTE Will you do this? 3.M32R (Main Mixer ) + NOT Mixer using DAW+ DANTE Is the Latency problem as safe as number one or two in this case? Out of 1.2.3 I am considering which one to go. I think you know what to do. Thank you all the time Thank you for your dedication.
@BallastMedia
4 жыл бұрын
I would go with option 1 or 3. If you are going to go with a physical mixer for the stream, go ahead and get a full fledged mixer so they can mix on faders. The advantage to #3 and using a DAW is that you can use Waves plugins easily, but the disadvantage is lack of faders. Latency needs to be considered for #3, but if you are careful with what plugins you use, and you use a Dante Rednet PCIe card for the interface, you shouldn't have an issue with latency. The easiest to maintain/manage will be #1, so if cost isn't an issue I'd probably go with that.

I really love your videos. Lots of great information. I'm looking at purchasing a Minrray 20x-NDI PTZ camera and an Elgato Stream Deck for our church. We just received our ATEM Mini Pro and are using Pro Presenter. I'm still configuring it and learning how to use it. I've set up the ATEM and Camera 1 (Sony PXW-X70). We don't have any more space in the sound booth to add a PTZ Camera operator. When setting up the PTZ, I plan on using SDI out and converting it to HDMI at the ATEM. My question is, how can I get a PTZ camera operator to control the camera AND be able to see the camera feed if they aren't at the multiview screen in the sound booth? I'm pretty sure they can use a laptop on the church LAN connect the Elgato to the camera, but does the Companion software used with the Elgato actually show the camera feed (since I'm using SDI to send the picture)? If not, how can we get the camera feed to that laptop AND use Companion at the same time for camera control?

Love the video after watching it I’m not clear the difference between the 2 monitors in your hook up. Is it purely to view the camera feed or is similar to Atmos or Blackmagic’s video asset where you’re monitoring and recording as a 2nd back up of footage. Also Great point about sdi cable as I thought I was limited to hdmi cable but share your concern. All 3 of My cameras have both hdmi and sdi feed but I guess I can get one and for the other 2 use hdmi cords for shorter distance. I’ll need to rethink about multiview as I already have some challenges.

es, the 2nd monitor that I hook up is to just see one of the camera feeds. You could use something like the video assist and record it as well, but the monitor I was using is just a monitor to show the camera feed. The first monitor is connected to the HDMI output of the Atem Mini and showing the Preview Bus.
@almedogjurgji

You have connected the cameras to the atem mini through hdmi cables and in one case through a sdi cable using two converters. I wanted to know how did you connect the atem mini to the pc that is going to be used to stream the video online and where the software of the atem mini is installed? Through a hdmi cable or usb? Can you then use the obs studio to stream the video online by choosing the atem mini as a video capturing recorder in scene properties of the software? Would pressing the buttons on the atem mini have any effect when streaming the video online through obs or you can only use this last one to choose which camera is going to appear on video each time? I would really like a video with less words and more practice on how is all this done concretely.
@BallastMedia
2 жыл бұрын
Yes, connect the USB output of the atem to the computer. It will then show up on your computer as a video capture device that you can add as a source in obs. Yes, the resulting switched output of the atem (program) is what is sent out to the USB, so switching cameras will switch the camera being sent to obs.

The problem with these videos, like this one, is that it assumes you already know several variables which everyone does not. I need one that shows which plug goes where and so forth. I connected two cameras to the ATEM. Camera one I could see the picture on my Atomos Ninja V. I connected camera two to the second HDMI plug. I could see the first camera in the first HDMI. When I pressed the second button to switch the view to camera two, it would not show the camera. I was assuming you could view the second camera the same as you would if you connected a computer to one of the HDMI ports. So I am at my wits end to figure it out.

No, you definitely don't want to go through a computer for IMAG. This will introduce too much delay to be useable on the screen. You want a switcher like the ATEM TVS HD that has an AUX out. Run your computer to the switcher as an input, and use the AUX output to send video to your screen.

Right above the USB connector is the Mini-HDMI connector on the 70d. But the 70d doesn't output "clean" HDMI, meaning you will always have focus markers, or other information/text from the camera on the HDMI out. It's not a good camera for live production because of that.

I've seen other videos in the past talking about using a AJA UTAP video interface, is this not required for this setup? We've previously just used a wide view camera to film our event but because of the Covid restrictions, we will be exploring pay per view for the first time. The ppv platform have asked for a minimum of 3 cameras. We have already figured that we need a black magic ATEM Television HD. We will be using obs to broadcast the signal and this will be on a mac laptop.

Only the Mini line of the ATEM switchers has the USB video interface built in. Any other Atem switcher will require a separate video interface like the u-tap. So for the Atem Mini, No you don't need a u-tap. But for the Atem Television Studio HD, Yes you do need a u-tap or similar device.

Great video! Just a quick thought regarding multiview - The Blackmagic SDI > HDMI converter has a SDI out - could that go into something like the Blackmagic Multiview 4 HD? I know it's another $200 but could that be a workaround?

Yes, that's exactly what I describe at 7:40 in the video.

I've watched many of your KZitem videos and greatly appreciate them. I wanted to get the ATEM mini but now they are sold out everywhere due to so many churches needing to get into live streaming, which is why I wanted to get one. What would be your second or third choice for a high quality, reliable video capture device? Thanks!

If you can find it, AJA U-tap. Then if you are on PC the Elgato HD60s (this doesn't work in OBS on mac, but works great on PC.) for Mac the Magewell USB interface is decent.

Hi, thanks for the very informative video. I want to ask whether you have a video on how to control and record the live sound through the ATEM app. If I use the 2 minijack inputs on the mini pro (console & mic) can I control them live during a stream and also record them on an external drive? I think this is achievable with the mini pro. Also can I record the 3 camera separate inputs on an external hard disk? Thanking you all in advance.

I do have a video about audio with the Mini line of switchers. (kzitem.info/news/bejne/ubCnxZuIgaWCe44) The mix of the inputs will be recorded with the video, but not separately if that's what you are asking. You can only record the inputs separate with the PRO ISO model.

Hi Steven, great video! We have to buy a budget setup for live streaming and small interview in our Church. We are actually broadcasting with OBS from our Iphone :-( We want to buy a camera and a card for grabbing video from it. We found on the used market a Lumix G7 for 250 € and a ATEM Mini for another 250 €. Do you think this could be a good start ? Thanks a lot!

I having trouble trying to hook my audio to the mini-pro the only connection available is Mic 1 and Mic 2. I have a box that allows me to attach my balanced XLR into one side and an unbalenced 1/8 inch to the other side to be hooked into the Mic 1 input. Well this does not work well at all getting a loud buzz sometimes and other times no sound at all. I checked the sound from my board and it is good. Any Ideas?

You need a cable like this that is wired to convert balanced to unbalanced: amzn.to/32WaE2l You really don't need a box in between. Make sure you have set the audio settings in the Mini to set the Mic input to LINE level.

Hey Steven, great content, thanks! Is it possible to use multi 4K camera setup with ATEM Mini (Pro) to record in 4K, while streaming in 1080p? I’m trying to figure out how to have high quality footage while taking advantage of the flexibility of ATEM Mini.

Hey man you are just a lifesaver . Love your channel!. Your a blessing to many who need help streaming right now. I’ve been running church live stream from home since late last year we have a small setup but I may have gone overkill on the setup lol. However I still have issues with audio sync and live-streaming. I’ve watched all your videos on the atem mini and live streaming and read every comment My upload speed 500 mbps and 1000 download. I have Panasonic VX100 4K camcorder, Rode Wireless go, Atem mini, Vmix software, decent gaming desktop how ever I’ve just purchased Alienware Area 51 laptop to make sure I got the power to handle everything. Could you help me with what’s causing the delay and my streams freezing on FB live and the Audio video syncs issues? Im less than 5 meters away from the camera so latency should not be an issue. The rode wireless go connected to the input 1 of the Atem mini. 🙏❤️

What are the spec's on your computer? CPU, Ram and Graphics card? Usually when people start having these issues it's related to a resource bottleneck on the computer. (Not always, but usually)

Ballast Media Hey thanks, I came to the same conclusion it might be my current gaming desktop that could be the issue. i7 2600 3.7ghz 16gb DDr3, GTX 970ti current setup however I just ordered Alienware Area 51M laptop hope that will solve the problem. Laptop has Gpu and CPU desktop specs. 9th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-9700 (8-Core, 12MB Cache, up to 4.7GHz w/ Turbo Boost) 64GB, 4x16GB, DDR4 2400MHz 1TB RAID 0 (2x 512GB PCIe M.2 SSDs) 17.3" FHD (1920 x 1080) 144Hz, GTX 2070 8gb DDR 6 ram

@@markhepi7791 Hmmm, even that first computer should handle a single HD stream just fine. Wonder if you were having network congestion. I do know a lot of people had issues with FB live streaming this past Sunday.

Ballast Media hey thats a valid point but it was happening for a while. The other issue could be faulty hardware .i just downloaded the DPC latency checker and the graph is showing intermittent red bar. So I’m guessing I have something faulty l. Thanks again for your help I’ll keep testing.

Hmmm, is there a reason the cameras are coming in at different times? Different cameras, or using some sort of transmission?
