Sidechain can eliminate phase but not entirely but you have great info here. Another method to avoid phase with other instruments is getting a mid side Equalizer and removing mid information or side information that the other elements are taking up. Its all a jig saw puzzle 🧩. But this is helpful, i am not a professional but ive learned from years of producing. I always have a correlation meter on a track to check phase.

the artifact plosive like sounds are very similar to a vocal and their harmonies. Thank You very much for this video. I feel as though you have hit a lot of untapped areas here. Need more videos like this!

Great vid, thanks. Can you not just put correlometer onto the master track and compare? Would that need to be done in mono or would it be OK to leave as stereo?

please sry for the offtopic... did you managed or figuered it out how to use the flux pure without the daw... i mean it wont work without the sample grabber plugin right? i would love to analyze itunes and youtoube tracks on the go...
@Baphometrix

I'm pretty sure you need that Sample Grabber VST for Pure Analyzer to work. You can check with the support site over at Flux to see if there's some way to do this?

oh okay, nevermind please... because i thought this must be possible on that opensource programming (never got so really behind it)... i guessed if its managable to use Flux on the go than Baphometrix got the specialsouce to do so!

Why are u sidechaning it, simply put the correlometer on the drum bus and each drum track and then on master bus too for checking Phase on every stage.
@Baphometrix

Because the user goal I show in the video is watching how the sub and the kick interact in terms of phase cancellation. Your way would require making a special bus routing just to ensure that the sub and the kick are combined in their own special bus.

@@Baphometrix oh i see. thanks. The sidechaining is just confusing to me. I forgot the sub and drum is in play.

So basically just sidechain?
@Baphometrix

That's one way to fix phase issues. There are several (many?) others. The point of this video was to show how to "see" phase issues that your ears might not pick up very easily.

Baphometrix great video though! And u should dive into other methods! The only other one I can think of is lining up transients
@Baphometrix

@@SnoMan1818 Might be a good subject but can you be more precise? What exactly do you mean by "lining up transients"? Do you mean stretching a clip so the transients line up with the major and minor grid beats? Do you mean eyeballing two audio tracks and making sure their transients hit at the same time? (Because honestly that second case is usually something you want to avoid like the plague, because it will screw up your ability to make the track as loud as you might want.)
@SnoMan1818

Baphometrix yeah I was hinting at the second method to avoid opposite peak/dip of two Soundwave summing up to = phase cancelation. I brought it up since you mentioned other methods to fix phase and other than frequency masking or sidechain idk much else to fix phase issues. Maybe avoiding certain processing could be helpful in limiting the amount of bad phase you get in a song. Just spit balling though, I don't really have any solid/go-to techniques up my sleeve for phase issues. Or if the topic is too dragged out by now as the video maker maybe you could go into potitive phase? I know a lot of bass design is made with some crazy phasing But overall keep doing you! I've learned so much from your content
@Baphometrix

@@SnoMan1818 Transients aren't really the same thing as the "body" of the waveform where there are likely to be slower sine-ish frequencies that phase cancel each other. Transient bursts are extremely short. Usually the thing you want to do with transients is space them out so you don't have transients from several different tracks all overlapping at the same exact moment.

Very helpful. Might "Trackspacer" help in this case as well?
@Baphometrix
5 жыл бұрын
Trackspacer is great, and since it does essentially reduce masked frequencies by scooping out (ducking) conflicting frequencies, then yes, it can *possibly* improve correlation issues across the spectrum. Basically, there are many different ways to fix correlation/phasing problems. There's no one best "always correct" approach.
