Thanks for your video. Just got my machine a few weeks ago . I have V carve desktop and was trying to make my spoil board . I'm very new to all this , but this video and the input from Onefinity was very helpful. Didn't know you had to put the tools in separate files. That explains why my z axis got stuck .

Yes, always best to have them as separate files.

Great vid! Makes a lot of sense for us CNC OF newbies! Before I saw this, I personally had a tough time understanding all the homing procedures but this helps big time. Thanks again!!! Happy cutting!!

Thanks for making this video! Need more basic videos like this walking you through the process start to finish. Question... I understand that for the first tool path he essentially zero'd right over the material, but wouldn't it be best to still use the z probe from the start anyway?
@OnefinityCNC

You could do it either way.

Thanks for doing this video. It's exactly where I am in my learning curve. How do you keep track of what tool to put in next? I tried a multi-tool cut and had no idea which tool I was supposed to put in, when. (?)
@OnefinityCNC

It's best to seperate each tool into it's own file. Simplifies things a whole lot.

Curios why you didnt use the probe to establish the corner of the workpiece (x,y and z) before the first cut? and isnt it possible to move the spindle when changing the bit? which could move the x,y location of the corner of the workpiece and mess up the 2nd stage carve with the vbit.

Are the tool change pop-ups unique to vcarve pro? Or do they show up automatically when you have two tools regardless of the software used to create the gcode? We use carbide create and have been saving each tool as a separate gcode file.
@OnefinityCNC

The best way is to continue saving each tool as separate gcode files.

@@OnefinityCNC If I'm using the same tool type and configuration for multiple vectors, do I have to establish a NEW tool path for each vector or can I just assign that same tool path to all of those vectors?

Seems to have alot of 'fuzzies' around the edge of the circle for a downcut spiral bit? Must have been a dull bit perhaps.

I tried to watch this. The content is probably good but the camera movements were diving me crazy. If you're gonna make a YT video like this with your phone consider some sort of mount or prop it up on something solid, even a stack of books if you have to. The camera can't focus on the screen because it's constantly moving around so viewers can not see any detail on the screen.
