Gue is a small village, comprising barely of about 50 to 75 houses, situated at a height of approximately 10,000 feet above sea level. It is best known for an 800-year-old Mummy of a Lama that attracts a steady stream of wanderers despite the remote and inhospitable location.
The Mummy is believed to be of a monk named Sangha Tenzin, who lived here in the 1400s. It is said that he sacrificed his life for the well-being of Giu Village and its prosperity.
I was recently on a road trip to Spiti Valley and spent some time in Giu Village. This is the video of our journey to the village to see the Mummy there. I hope you like it.
