I love mungo Jerry,four of us hitchiked from London to Margaret in 1971 and bunked into dream land and watched them Live,they were great, we spent the night pin the public toilets an blocked the entrance with deckchairs,one very long and cold experience,we all hitchiked home on Sunday, we wear young and free back then.

I always loved in the summertime. Tonight it was stuck in my head. After listening I randomly just decided to listen to their other music. They have officially made my list of favorite bands of all time. I've listened to so much and can't find one song I don't like. Not to mention they're entertaining to watch play. I have to agree with you. Every song makes me feel like a child getting excited hearing a song they like. Their music just puts you in a good mood

I can't believe Paul King let his ego get the better of him. I wonder if he was insecure about how good Ray Dorset was, jealous, or if he actually thinks he is a better musician? Either way his loss.

In the states we only heard In the Summertime, we missed out on lots of gems from the early 70's by several British bands I am traveling the British year end pop charts, starting with 53, have made it to 71 And play tons of songs I never heard, many are quite good. Love me the 50's 60's and 70's. next for me will be the check out the French charts, who knows what gems I will find Oh yah nothing any good has come out since the mid 90's, sad to say!!!
@ThinkerOnTheBus
4 жыл бұрын
While I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment of music from the '50s, '60s, and '70s, I beg to differ with your ignorant belief that nothing good (in music) has come out since the mid '90s. Not being exposed to anything "decent" (in music) since the mid '90s, does not mean that there was nothing released since then that was "any good". Perhaps that is a true characteristic of your world, but just because you remained unaware of good music, does not mean it did not exist. I believe there was a plethora of good music that was written, recorded and released in that time period, but I never heard it on MTV, or on corporate radio. I had to make an effort to seek it out, and that is how I found the "good" stuff . . . because the good stuff is never easily accessible, it's not being marketed all over, nor is it being crammed into your ear canals via corporate radio, TV shows, movies, shopping malls, clothing stores, bars, and all the other sources that seem to push all the untalented, soulless garbage (pun intended) for about fifteen minutes before moving on to the next pile of trash! I'm sorry you were not exposed to anything "good" for such a significantly long period of time. Like you said, they only played "Summertime" on corporate radio here in the United States, and now you are perusing old, foreign music charts and discovering a lot of great music that you were never previously exposed to mainly thanks to corporate radio and the recording labels. This leads me to ponder how you could so readily come to the conclusion that there has not been any good music since the mid '90s??? I think that the overwhelming majority of mid '90s popular music (read as: easily available and accessible) was pure garbage (pun intended). Thus, I am highly curious as to what music you thought was so superior in the mid '90s that you can contend that it has dominated all music released since then!!! But hey, it's your life, your world. If you want to hang on to such a negative, false belief for whatever the reason may be, and thereby live in a smaller world, with less decent music, and by extension, less happiness and joy, then knock yourself out! I much prefer my larger world, even though nearly all of the mainstream is truly trash, the remaining music I enjoy is so good that it compensates above and beyond that mediocre dreck to the point where I simply forget it even exists.
