Compared to a shooting a coward can pick up a gun and shoot without seeing the effects. Not saying guns are bad. But I guarantee you there wouldn't be as many killers if the only way to kill was with a knife. Which is silly I know but we have to try to see all retro specs of it.

The best way to change things is fathers actually being fathers and teaching these young men respect and love and always give guidance throughout life. Having a positive Male role model makes a huge difference in these young lives.. A mothers love is unbreakable but at the same time she can't teach boys to be proper men like a father figure could.. Above all always keep Jesus in your hearts and spread his message and Jesus will do what the police refuses to do..

I lived in Memphis as well. Avoid shit areas at all cost. If you think you shouldn't be there, you leave. Be respectful. Don't walk around at night. I feel bad for people who have to walk, take public transportation in bad places, work at off hours, and not make enough money to move. I doubt most people have $2000 to rent an apartment in somewhat nicer place. Also, I found that you need around 700 credit score and an income of 3x the rent in a decent place in Chicago. Feels bad man. A lot of people are just stuck in a cycle of crime and poverty.

If you are living in hell and you love your family, then what would hold you back from moving? Its 51 other states and other countries you can reside in! Its a lot of excuses in many hoods but few are have the courage to MAN UP and that includes both genders. Anyone can sell drugs, shoot people, get high all day, rob, murder, have multiple baby and live off government assistance. But only a few will do whatever it takes to live a straight and narrow while taking care of their family. Chicago is in its condition because of cowards, real men and women take care of their families and find legit means even if it means relocating. No it ain't, but it well get better when you make the best choices and consistently do what's in the best interest of your family. Stop making excuses about Chicago and MAN UP and do what needs to be done! 2019

Most are making a choice to indulge in the ills of the world. Don’t make excuses for them, nothing is easy. Blacks moved to the Chicago’s Detroit’s Ny and other states for the betterment of their families now those generations afterwards have created the very climate the blacks of prior tried to escape. Now it’s time to reverse the original movement. Life is what you make it, you know what you don’t like so do something about it. Imagine seeing your friends dying infront of you at such a young age. It’s like this because all the pain these kids have and the only answer they see is retaliation. It’s really sad that they get painted like monsters by the media and suburban people who will never ever understand what these people go thru on a daily. These kids are literally in a war zone 24/7. Sad that these are the cards they’ve been dealt.
@alrightalright4585

I've never met anyone who would say they're all monsters and I've lived in a lot of different burbs. It's more that we are just sad for them, sad it's like that, sad moms see their kids get caught up in these crazy lifestyles and pass away so young. I think most people see it as just a handful of genuine cold blooded monsters, but mostly people that are just fighting to survive born in a really rough neighborhood, as well as a ton of regular people that are caught up in the hood life by proxy but are otherwise just trying to live their lives. My parents, family, everyone older I've met that's always lived in the burbs never acted like that or called any of them monsters, that's a bad characterization. Most of them understand the environment forces their hand, and they have almost no other choice. It's just a volatile situation, like it's too crazy to know what to do or to even be able to do anything at all now. It's like kicking a hornet's nest, no matter how bad you want to help and how much you really feel for the people, there's very little we can actually do. It's all just so sad, the parents group in this video really broke my heart. I hope one day we can all come up with a better way of improving everyone's lives, something no one has thought of yet that actually makes a genuine difference for everyone. I just want you to know most people in the US, old or young, from the burbs or hood realize there's good and bad everywhere, in every group, in every place, even Chiraq.

Do they really think that simplistically? Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the nation. They actually have very few guns for the population, problem is, it's the criminals that have them. In areas where guns are banned criminals view having a gun as a status symbol. It gives them "street cred". It shows they have connections, it shows other gang members that they are hard core and it gives them power over potential victims. By banning them you turn guns into a status symbol among gangs & that makes the people that shouldn't have one want one all that much more. Bans & strict controls don't reduce overall murder rates, they never have, but they do drastically change the power dynamic. If guns are banned & you happen to have one, it gives you a tremendous advantage over anyone you may want to rob or kill. Yet another reason gangs in Chicago want guns. If everyone has a gun, then having one isn't an advantage over others and it drastically increases the risk to someone that may want to rob or kill another person. Criminals are always looking for an advantage over potential victims & if having a gun doesn't offer an advantage, or isn't seen as a status symbol there is less desire to have one. This is why you see the drastic differences in index crime patterns in areas with strict gun laws VS populations where guns are common. In areas with lots of guns you see more property crimes, more fraud, more home burglary (resident not home) but you see less violence against people. Very simply, going after a person is high risk so criminals turn to stealth type crimes where they don't risk running into a potentially armed victim. This is basic, basic criminology theory. They need to quit focusing all their attention on guns & work on the root of the problem. The root of the problem is social. It's the gangs, it's the numbers of people that turn to crime. When you start defining the problem correctly, and start working on the gang issues, education issues, family issues and employment issues you will start making progress on the violence issues. Instead of marching against guns, they need to be marching for a community center, or a mentoring program. They need to be marching for a community trade school. When the young kids have a father, a coach, a teacher, a mentor, or any adult they trust telling them to stay in school & showing them the way to a better life the gangs won't be so appealing to them. When they see other neighborhood kids go to the trade school & become a welder or plumber & then get a good job that becomes real to them. They see it happening, it's a realistic way to a better life & It's an option away from gangs & a criminal lifestyle. Some that are originally going for a trade will do better in HS & realize there are even better options than the neighborhood trade school. It's a social problem & there is no way to fix it without addressing the social issues causing the problems. Some people think the stroke of a pen & a new gun law will help the problem but it doesn't. A new law doesn't reduce the number of kids turning to gangs & drugs. We have 60+ years of quality criminology literature. We know how to fix these problems & it's high time we quit looking for a magical quick fix in the form of new laws & actually turn our efforts towards real solutions.

Police are too afraid, and over policing has proven to make it worse, we need to fix the root cause, poverty, and the remnants of slavery and Jim Crow and redlining that forced African Americans into living in these neighborhoods, with terrible schools and no business keeps everyone there giving them little hope of a solid education and the ability to get out of the “hood”.
