Double Thumbs Up! Sergey, I liked this video a lot; it was very informative and really brought me up to date about Murmansk. I have an interest because I am Norwegian-American, born in California, with my father born in Norway. I remember that 30-40 years ago the USSR and Norway were seriously squabbling about fishing rights out from their borders. From your video it sounds like they are getting along okay now; do you know about how the dispute was settled? Also, I'm curious about the native people there... are they the same as the Sami (Lapplanders) nomads in northern Finland, Sweden and Norway? Just a couple things of interest that you might want to cover sometime in Real Russia. Sergey, keep up the good work you are doing!

Thousands of allied sailors suffered and hundreds died to supply goods to Murmansk in WW2. I understand when they arrived there the Soviets were keen to add to their suffering, instead of treating them like heroes, they were treated like the enemy. The Soviet system achieved so much, it's a shame it's Stalinist dark side caused so much pain & suffering.

I used to live in Northern Norway, and Murmansk is a popular weekend spot. But entering is not easy nor cheap, we needed to buy tourist visas a week in advance. My city also had a fast track visa to visit the closest cities in the region; Nikel and Zapolyarny. That was for residents that have lived 3 years in those cities. So we could travel freely over the border, but not as far as Murmansk. I haven't been to Murmansk since 2002. Looks like lots have changed.

I just moved from Murmansk. I lived there from January to June. At 5:54 there is a place called StartUp Coffee, which is one of my favorite coffee places in the world! You should have tried White Rabbit, Terrasa, Grey Goose, and Tundra restaurants, as they are all great! During your next trip, you should go to Kirkenes in Norway, that is a beautiful place. And, at 7:33, on the left, that is actually the head mast of the Kursk submarine, and the lighthouse is dedicated to those who lost their lives. This video brings back memories! I think I was the only American living there lol!

Thank you. I have been thinking about booking the trip from Murmansk to the north pole on the ice breaker from here. You sold me on the beauty of this port city.
