I agree, for pure aiming like you do in aim trainers it's completely fine to change the sens all the time. I used to be hesitant about it when the belief of aiming being muscle memory was prevalent a couple years ago but actually doing it and changing sens every couple minutes while aim training made me realize that it only takes a few seconds to adjust to a new sens. But in actual games that are not just about aiming it does take me longer to adjust to a new sens so i avoid doing it and if i do it i stick to the new sens for at least a couple days. Games are so much more coplex than just aiming. After being on the same sens for a while i'll know exactly what motions and timings i need for a specific rocket jump so i can do it without even looking and instead I can check the game UI do get information on what my team is doing for example. On a new sens i could still do that jump but it would require my focus to not screw it up so I wouldn't be able to check on other stuff while rocket juming. And also knowing your sens and optimal engagement rages is helpful. On a high sens you'll do better up close and on a low sens you'll be more precise at long distances. And intuitively knowing what ranges give you the highest chance of winning a fight is valuable. The strat of rocket jumping behind a player and then moving around them to make them run out of mousepad won't work if you play low sens because you'll run out of mousepad first. So you'd have to change up your playstyle if you change from high to low sens and that takes time. I feel external factors like skate wearing down and humidity don't really affect the aim much. Humidity, maybe on some pads but I use a hard pad with a sleeve there shouldn't be any difference. And my skates do get slower as they wear down but that process is so slow that I automatically adjust to it without even noticing. Only when I put new skates on the difference is noticable but in that case only the friction changes, not the distance i need to move the mouse. So how far i can aim with just the wrist, fingertips or before i run out of mousepad space doesn't change which does not require me to change up how i play. Maybe in games that are more about just aiming and in which you can't pick your engagement ranges as freely, changing sens more often is fine but in Diabotical and other area fps i always feel like i need to relearn the game on a new sens for a couple days despite me constantly changing sens in aim trainers.

Muscle memory is still a thing, an example can be if you're tired after a long day at work your muscle memory will for sure play a part in helping you while playing even if you're not actively focusing on aim. You can't be hardcore focused on aiming throughout your whole gaming session and thats where muscle memory comes in, you're able to play at a certain base level even if you're not focused and locked in on your crosshair.

its interesting, I've always had the idea that I was a high sens player but when I first started CSGO way back then, I eventually lowered my sens to match pro players because that what was agreed to be the best. But I was inconsistent. When Valorant came around, I started on a high sens again but continuously changed sens all the time around .35-.48 800 dpi all the time. I just couldn't find the perfect sens, but realized that the high end of .471 was the best. Everyone says "dont change sens" or "low sens is better", but I decided to say fuck it and up my sens all the way to .625, and what's crazy is my headshot percentage is even higher than before. I think less about my sens being bad and can focus strictly on the game. I definitely think that trying to stick on one sens is the best, but I think the idea that low sens is better (in fps games) isn't entirely true. I used to be obsessed with changing settings constantly, but if you broaden yourself out more, you'll eventually find the perfect settings for you.

DISAGREE - All you need is to pick one medium sensitivity to shoot comfortably at both small and far targets, while also being 'okay' in close fights. You have to train with that one sensitivity because it is how physiology of humans works. Repeating the same action improves neural connections, making you more accurate and faster, similar to how professional athletes train. People often calls that muscles memory but there is no memory in muscles. - Constantly switching sensitivity doesn't completely ruin your aiming because it's not pure motor skill. However, it significantly slows down your improvement at aiming. Imagine driving a car where turning the steering wheel results in different machine turning angle. It makes driving more challenging, but it doesn't mean you'll crash. It just makes it harder to drive. If you frequently change your sensitivity, you are improving your adaptation to switching sensitivity more than enhancing accuracy at aiming. Adaptation to sensitivity switching is a pointless skill since you can set up almost the same sensitivity in any game. - The idea of switching mouse sensitivity to train a weaker group of muscles is pointless since you can keep a sensitivity that requires an already trained group of muscles. - While many may want to listen to a skilled aimer like Visose, her proficiency isn't solely because she changes sensitivity. The key to her good aiming skill is the amount of time she spends playing. She plays a lot, and that's the essence of her brilliance as an aimer. - If you are a newbie and unsure about the medium sensitivity, try a range between 51 to 25 centimeters to make a 360 degrees using whole hand for aiming not only wrist. There are also mouse sensetivity calculators. Use it!
@ViscoseOCE
8 ай бұрын
I suggest you have a read of the john hopkins study, it counters most of what you said about switching sens not having any real benefits, as variety is very important to developing a motor skill. Learning to adapt to variance is part of it sure, but even that has it's benefits in gaming because as I said, your setup will never remain entirely consistent even if your sensitivity stays the same. There is also changing between games to consider, but at this point I'm just repeating what I said in the video. As for the muscle groups thing, the problem is that every sens should use at least 2 if not all muscle groups. If you are a high sens player and have poorly developed arm skills, you are still worse off as a player than if you played the same sens with more developed arm speed and stability. That is why changing sens for practice is useful, it lets you isolate weaknesses that would be far harder to develop on your normal sensitivity. Please take the time to comprehend what I said in the video before telling people to not listen to me, especially since there is research done to back up what I say. edit: the comment originally started with "DONT LISTEN TO HER", hence the last bit
@teatime5543

@@ViscoseOCE - ok LISTEN TO HER she tells completely wrong information to people. SO it is easier for me to defeat crazy people with different sens each match. - If you have finished school, you should be familiar with the concept of 'procedural memory.' If you are not familiar with it, here is an explanation: "Procedural memory is a type of implicit memory (unconscious, long-term memory) which aids the performance of particular types of tasks without conscious awareness of these previous experiences. Procedural memory guides the processes we perform, and most frequently resides below the level of conscious awareness. When needed, procedural memories are automatically retrieved and utilized for execution of the integrated procedures involved in both cognitive and motor skills, from tying shoes, to reading, to flying an airplane. Procedural memories are accessed and used without the need for conscious control or attention. Procedural memory is created through procedural learning, or repeating a complex activity over and over again until all of the relevant neural systems work together to automatically produce the activity. Implicit procedural learning is essential for the development of any motor skill or cognitive activity. " If you are already aware of this information, there is no need to search for studies that span only two days, as such a duration may not be sufficient for checking ppl accuracy improvements. Sry about that. Btw I missed how many peopl participated in that research? - You said "As for the muscle groups thing, the problem is that every sens should use at least 2 if not all muscle groups." That's the only thing you said is true, almost all muscles are requared. And playing 1000 hours in OW2 will develop your aim in OW2 so much and at the same time it will develop your aim in CS quite less. There is just no point of isolating something and train it since you can just play with same sens different type of shooters or scenarios in aim trainer with that one sens and it WILL develope all muscles which are requared. Don't make your life harder people.
@teatime5543

@@vorkot1 Are you able to actually read? "Procedural memory is created through procedural learning, or repeating a complex activity over and over again". People like you pushed me to go for Grandmaster back then as a personal goal and I'm happy to say I reached it years ago. Been off the grind for years now though, but what you're saying is a topic which was hot even back then. And I have to say I completely agree with your points, mainly the one about changing your sens while thinking of your game of choice, and this is where the real advice to everyone should lie. Change your sens accordingly to the game you play. My sens on val is not gonna be the same as my sens on BF5 or Apex. My sens on Team Fortress 2 is not gonna be the same on hitscan classes such as scout or sniper as it will be on projectile classes (soldier and demo). Each specific weaponry, movement style, simply the game will require different skillsets, and sitting on one sens won't help you develop these skillsets as much. Higher sens is suited for fast movements, lower sens is more suited for slower gameplay/holding angles. Simple as that. Thank you for this video, and I hope a lot of people will see it Cheers, have fun til the next vid!

I think people should simply just look at the benefits of certain sensitivities and then stick to what suits them best and this is coming from someone who has VT GM and semi-pro experience in multiple shooter games. Getting personally used to a new sens takes an hour at max. I believe at some point in the future we may even see people swapping sens according to maps for example on Valorant, just like some people change crosshairs and outlines according to it. Matty already does it and is very successful with it obviously. The only thing you should be thinking about is whether your sens is roughly adequate to what you want to do, for example maybe don't play 20cm/360 in Val because you can't microadjust anymore and that's it. Everything else is just practice.

I can personally attest I swap between 50cm-70cm in Val non-stop depending on what I play, cuz dash-spotting with too low sens is almost impossible on Jett for example and it doesn't damage my ability to aim at all. Still sitting in Immo without any concern. I think it may just be a delusion coming from less experienced players because they search for short-term fixes over long-term issues. Knowing EliGe for example plays 35cm you can probably play anything between 30cm-120cm comfortably in tacFPS and still get to the highest rank. It's all just skill and practice.

I like the fact you included the changing sens when tilting it's very important and a dangerous habit that can hinder improvement in the game.

Solid video and thoughts. But I think there is an obvious winner since the top players in pretty much all fps,es do not change their sens at all. The only one doing it is basically tenz.

a flawed argument. pitting a regular guy with the top 0.000001% player who might be gifted with gaming skills and abilities. almost all players who are atleast high elo would say dont constantly change your mouse sensitivity.

calling an argument flawed doesnt make it flawed😭nothing u said rebuts anything in the vid and a good chunk of high ranked/pro players do change their sens often

weird but important quesition: When aiming, do you place your arm on the table, the mouse or do you hold it up so that there is no weight on the mouse and your arm does not touch the table

A great video, I tend to change my sens after dying alot and its true I wasn't thinking about my gameplay the thought is almost always "my sens feels weird" which im going to stop doing and think about how im controlling my mouse and what im using to aim if i need to use more of my arm or wrist again great video ty ty
