Hey, great video! But there is one point, that you explained incomplete and a second, where I disagree: 1. Practising the explosive Pull Up is great for Muscle Up. The recommended amount of reps should be four to six. And also the number of sets should be around five and with a decent amount of pause time in between. 2. I highly disagree with the point, that resistance bands are a waste of time. I'm a big fan of the 5x5-program and it helped me also a lot with the Muscle Up by using the bands. After I had practiced the explosive Pull Ups a lot, I switched to the resistance bands. First I used the strongest band I could find and increased over the weeks the difficulty by changing the bands until I did not need any band at all. For every band I started with 4 reps times 5 sets increasing slowly the reps with every session. When I was able to do 6 reps x 5 sets I switched to the next weaker band. (a lot of "bands" in this text...) After I tried for years to achieve the Muscle Up, this was the way to finally get there. So I can definitely recommend it. Some final thoughts on that topic: a) I personally think, it is always better to practice a movement directly, but assisted, than to use other movement pattern, as long as the movement is executed correctly. b) The 5x5-program focuses on gaining maximum strength and muscle gains with the barbell, but it's principles can be transferred to callisthenics very well.

if you need years for a single muscle up you better sell those bands :P. . For me it feels naturally that explosive pull ups are the major key. just because you have to get over the bar quick. For sure its hard, but if you doin properly pull ups its not that great step, if you focus training on that exercise.

I think the easiest way to learn it is to get a really thick band with which you can do the muscle up with ease. Then just progressively add weight while keeping the resistance band. You'll eventually build up enough strength to do a muscle up without a band and the technique will most likely be on point since you practiced it from the very beginning.

I had this issue when I first decided to dedicate time to training muscle ups. I got to a point where I could do 30 wide pull ups in a row. At my peak I was able to do 4x8 reps with a 20kg weight. But... I couldn't do a single muscle up. I didn't understand it. Training for for one arm pull ups on rings however meant that on my first attempt at a muscle up I sailed over the bar. Happy days!

*DO NOT NEGLECT THE FRONT BAR DIPS!* I was able to do a few muscle ups back when my weight was at about 216-220 then decided to bulk during the winter and put on weight and kinda stopped worrying bout MU cuz I could do them. As my weight got up to 270 suddenly I couldn't get over the bar and figured it was my weight but then when I dropped the pounds again I still couldn't get over the bar, I was explosive enough but just couldn't hit that transition. Literally a few weeks ago I was training with this guy who told me to work on the front dips and I stayed consistent with it and by the next week I was doing a good 2-3 reps of muscle ups again and now gonna make sure I never lose it again only to get better at them.

@erenyaeger7662

Pulling higher than chest isn't really helpful for muscle up I saw a guy pulling to belly and no muscle up The only reason for that is one You need pushing strenght for the transition. Sure,pulling higher makes it easier But I could easily pull to my high chest and muscle up. Kipping,but I could. I trained my impossible dips. Reached 1 rep of impossible dip with perfect and slow form and had enough strenght for it. Impossible dips are harder,but easier to train than muscle up. Having strong triceps makes easier lots of skill,not just muscle ups. This is what many ppl miss tbh. You can pull belly high,but if your triceps just won't let you go over the thing then ur just wasting time. Pulling higher and faster to a bar won't result in your arms automatically going over a bar. They'd stop where they are. Not being able to get to a dip position. I hope I was clear

@baba yaga Whether it's worth it or not would depend on yourself man.. This is the same as like asking whether eating healthy is worth it or not if it means you'll have a hard time finding the healthy foods.. It definitely will benefit you in the long term as you'll gain grip strength but it depends on you whether or not you want to implement it if it means you'll have a decrease in performance ( at least for now ).. You'll slowly pick up where you're left off as you gain grip strength.. Or just bust up some reps with fat grip and superset that with your normal grip.. Does that make sense? @@babayaga9266 what I did was use the FatGripz or towel for my back lever, front lever, or muscle up workout, and just use them until my hands gave up. Then I'd switch to the normal bar for the rest of the workout. It'll definitely affect your reps when you start, but like anything else you'll adapt and I think that training grip like this is the best way. I go through my full front lever workout with the extreme sized FatGripz now, when I could barely do 3 pullups with them when I first got them. Towels are great too for back lever to help protect your wrist (at least for me) and helps build killer grip
