Thank you for the mention of Dr. Roberts and wife. He was quirky, but a wonderful man. I used to visit him at the Museum. His Doberman, Teddy, was a fixture. a lovable one

I remember back in the late 70's after Amtrack stopped running trains at the station, the city was trying to decide if they wanted to make a mall out of it. About the same time, the transportation museum was looking into the possibility of relocating. I thought moving it to the old train shed was the perfect solution. But instead as usual it's always about the money and the mall was built while old relics rusted away in the open spaces of the transportation museum.

I met Mr. Goldschmidt he is a remarkable & genuine gentleman! Very smart about the railroad history around St. Louis. I miss him and his remarkable stories! He always visited us @ our MoPac caboose on Saturday's! He always had a story for us! R.I.P. Mr. Goldschmidt.

Good thing there are volunteers to keep it alive. I have seen too many of these operations go under and have to close. Several have closed in the past few years near me in Ohio.
