I met my wife in that car we dated in it, got married using it, & went to Niagra Falls in it, on our honeymoon.....! Went back to the falls for our 40th annv, A magic carpet? Much of this music stirs me within.. Takes me back to when men were men and women were loveable. No tatt's no cussing, and they spoke much more intelligently than they do today. Also there was much ore laughter in the air. No I- phones, just that Sony Transistor radio.. yes, almost glued to our shoulders. F Fwd 65 years: Lordy WHAT has happened to us??? Ans: Prophecy is being fulfilled,.Perilous times have come. and God is getting ready to wrap things up. To all those who are in Christ: See you at the banquet! and the music there will be truly out of this world

Never has music had such a strong association with cars, especially hot rods and customs, as has doowop and early rock & roll music been. I know because it was a big part of my own motivation to own a Model A Ford, which I finally did in 1964. And after all these years, I still have the car as a restored award winner and am still just as much a lover of the music. But the down side is that so many things such as the price of gas and car parts, the lack of space to collect or even work on old cars, are now hurting the old car hobby. And of course the music associated with the cars has been long gone and remembered mainly just by the elderly. But as long as there's someone around to keep those old cars on the road, what they symbolize will still be there.

Same here. I have been listening to this music since jr. high school, and have been working on custom cars and motorcycles since 1958. That is what keeps me going at 80 years of age. I still have my 1957 Chrysler Convertible that I bought in 1965, and my wife's '59 Impala that she inherited in 1965. I lost her last year. {you don't know what you've got until you loose it, Ral Donner]

@@alfredpeirish1163 So sorry to hear about your wife. Your Chrysler ragtop and that '59 Impala must be really nice. In 1980, my aunt in Seattle was executor of her next door neighbor's estate. One time when me and me mother visited her from Vancouver, BC, my aunt offered to sell me her neighbor's red '58 Chevy ragtop for $1000. It was just sitting there in the driveway showing only minor rust on the headlight brows. And I didn't have the ready cash, as usual. Maybe I could have borrowed it but I was worried about getting the car across the border and if it would make it to the border. I'm not that timid now, believe me..

I almost agree but by 1960 it had become too gimmicky & over commercialised ,& by 61 parts of songs ,/tunes were cribbed & D W became somewhat formulaic .So I reckon th best songs were by th 1920s & 30s composers - - " Th Great American Songbook". However D W groups in '61 did good versions of many of them😊.

I hate throwing water on a fire, but I also remember going to a dance in the early sixties, at Exh Gardens in East Vancouver. This punk wanna be tough guy tried to pick a fight with me,DUMB! There were several scraps in the 'barn' that evening. What a waste! I was there for music, dancing and the babes. Did my stuff at a local boxing club ( Not really a champion, just kept in shape) .This was common, at most roller rinks, skating rinks, and local dances. Never did understand the mindset there..Not all did who cruised the Boulevards did this, but there were always a few punks cruising in that primer paint only 49 Merc, looking for a 'rumble' Most of them didn't know what to do when it got started though. That was the only big downside. I think it was a lot rougher in the U.S. Great clip !! Now my former 'ducktail' has become skin. Almost everyone from the day loved American Graffiti, and the 'Pharoahs' did a fairly good job of depicting what I was trying to describe earlier. A.G. was not really much of a story, but a connection of incidents, a few of which most of us can identify with, and have a good laugh at the same time. And - I still love Cindi Williams 🖤🖤🖤
