The great indie funk band, Vulfpeck, are the ones that coined the term "a pity" when referring to the fraction of a penny you get from a stream. Shout out to Jack Stratton (the band leader). Those guys are pretty inspiring. They're totally indie, and crazy successful. Sold out MSG a few months ago.

New and Unknown musical groups have been making spotify playlists that look like official movie soundtracks and they sneak a couple of their songs onto the playlist. One way to get your music out.

I'm not a Spotify user, but apparently their algorithm is off the chart - once you give it enough data to work with.

I maybe a weirdo but I get my music off of others peoples playlists on spotify. I will search up random playlists and just let the music play and if I like the song I add it.

I just stumbled this video while researching music industry, since I have nothing to do. But I have to correct you on this video Im not posting that you misinforming your audience. But you said yourself you dont know, Im just posting artists actually make money out of there music. And not cheating the system with playlists on streaming services. Its same as the old one, pray for a big label to sign you The economy and the system is still the same its just the format changed. Even the so called indie label are owned by major labels. Dragonforce said they are labeled to indie record, but if you google it the first image is UMG. The music industry then is the same now. In fact major labels have big share on spotify. SONY music is 5.7 percent, UMG is 2 percent and WMG is also 2 percent. Not that much in paper but thats actually big
