Blessings to your Mom for recording and saving your childhood and to you for sharing them with us! I've been following you for years, and this is the most awesome video of all! We can see the future you forming even back then. And the greatest thing?.....The best is yet to come!! I have your earlier album from a decade ago, I will have the Schumann album soon, and I look forward to all your albums not yet dreamed about. 💖

That is so heart touching when you listen to Cesar Franck's "Panis Angelicus" ( 4:12 ) trying to sing the (difficult!) melody in repeat and getting emotional soon after 🥺- Off topic, I watched your "Davidsbundlertanze" on DW. My high opinion about your playing of Romantic repertoire is already known, but what most impressed me besides that was the audience. No coughing, no rustling, no shifting in their seats. That kind of undivided attention for a solid 37 minutes means a lot in your favor!

Thank you for sharing how you first got into piano. You show what it is like to have been inspired to experience greater dimensions of emotions growing up, which likely shaped who you are as a person today. (It'd be lovely if you could make a video on this), but perhaps the most pressing question today for many people is what made you persist? What, after the initial inspiration and years of learning and practice, made you want to continue exploring to this day? Why, out of all genres of music, does classical music on the piano move you the most? Why is it, to you, that music that is fixed in the past renews its vibrancy and novelty to you constantly? What changes has your piano playing undergone over all these years? What does your mind see when looking at a music score: notes, harmonies, rhythms, or... timeless archetypes of life?

Could be substantial enough to make entire video series on! Thank you for sharing this. You have a gift and it’s interesting to learn how your connection to music and the piano began. Even at such a young age your hand position looks so natural! I can’t wait to get your album, Tiffany. I just love how you are making classical music more approachable to the younger crowd. It’s my favourite kind of music to play on the piano and there is so much to learn and explore it will keep me busy for a lifetime.

This video seems to me to show your parents (mostly unintentionally I imagine) giving you just the right kind of nurture to trigger the extremely musical nature you were clearly born with. Your father playing music all the time may have contributed to your perfect pitch as psychologists now believe that all children have it and the mind decides whether pitch is important enough to be worth keeping after getting a basic grasp of the mother tongue, then all but one in around 40,000 people lose it. They also now think that we learn half of what we will ever learn before our fifth birthday. What an instructive and charming video this is!

Loved this video - It's so interesting to see how musicians start and develop and those baby videos of you were such fun to see. I play the piano but in my case I had no interest in music until in my teens when I changed from someone who had absolutely no interest in music to someone who was obsessed with it and therefore decided to start to learn the piano. I just wish my interest had started earlier like yours. My question for you and your next video is can you tell us about how you were thought and how was the music school system in Hong Kong when you were learning as a kid.

I have just had KZitem bring this up. Tiffany Poon reminiscing about her early musical development, with some early clips briefly shown, but with Tiffany talking over the top from her adult perspective today. I first saw the name "Tiffany Poon" many years ago in a comment made on the KZitem channel of another piano playing opera composing music prodigy - Alma Deutscher. Whether there is a comparison to be made between a very young Alma and a very young Tiffinay I do not know, but someone evidently thought there was. I always followed Alma from the beginning, Tiffany just being a name introduced in a comment as already described. You'll never completely please some people! Your oldest videos on here only go back to when you were 10 years old. Any chance that a new topic could be posted with the very young Tiffany clips already mentioned played in full without an adult Tiffany talking over the top? I am sure I am not alone in wanting to see these! There is even an Oxford University Lecture about a very young Alma Deutscher demonstrating the incredibly sophisticated things she was capable of even then, way beyond the capabilities of most adults. Beat that! kzitem.info/news/bejne/mmaP1GWNm3uTh6A From Jeremy24.

This video really fills in the picture. Your expression at 4:20 as you listened to the operatic singing says so much, and then the immediate recreation of what you had heard says even more. As for the four key piano, I was impressed by the short excerpt and how much music I could hear. Call me crazy, but it would be so cool to hear you play one now, with all your mastery, getting as much as possible from such a limited instrument. I suspect it would be wonderful, and say a lot about music and how we hear it. Unrelated: what/when was your earliest formal training?

This is the first time I heard of someone else talk about the knot of listening to emotional music as a child. Are there other people who felt that too as a kid and who don’t feel it as strong anymore? For me, it was really strong and physical as a kid for music that was sad. As an adult, the only time I feel it is when I listen to strings live in concert or sometimes playing piano.

香港人你好😆 kid tiffany dancing and playing around is so cute:3 Also, it's quite interesting to hear how you got into music and piano playing, and how you were raised not being told you must excel and keep practicing the piano, but that you developed interest naturally. For me, I was told I would learn an instrument and so I began learning early in elementary school (I learnt the violin), but it wasn't until high school that I came to appreciate and adore classical music, even though it almost coincided with the time I stopped learning to prepare for the public exams. I grew in love because I love reading stories and learning about people, and it was only then that I really thought about how classical musicians of the "old times" also had their lives, stories, and circumstances. It really helped me connect with the music I was listening to and playing. Thanks for sharing your story with us!

I just asked myself: Where does this groove come from in her playing, for example in the last bars of Davidsbündler I, 3 (just watched the Dresden concert that DW recorded). And now we know: Once you've got "Daddy Cool" stuck in your dancing shoes, you won't be able to get the groove out of your fingers. 😂 But the highlight of many great moments: 12:04 - 12:10 Made my day! And a quick word about the Dresden concert (I always write far too much anyway, I think 🙈). So I'll pick out one thing: these short notes - I'm back to Davidsbündler I, 3 or II, 3, for example - are simply stunning: clear, not at all "washed out", never shrill or harsh, simply very, very elegant in tone. I'm now looking forward to the upcoming album even more!
