I saw McFerrin years ago as an opening act. The things he's capable of doing vocally is unbelievable. This isn't even close to his best work.

Yess! Bobby McFerrin has to be seen to be believed. 🤩 I love the way he acknowledges that last endless note by exaggerating pulling in air at the end, just before the "mockingbird" takes flight. Such a wicked twinkle in his eyes.

Don't feel bad, I wasn't aware of him at first either. He is mostly into jazz, but he did make Don't Worry, Be Happy a viral success. And yes, I agree, he is phenomenal. Great reaction!!

@@setonhillstudios I didn't realize it either until after I watched his delightful music video. (I'm pretty sure that's Robin Williams with him). Check out his official channel.

Such a virtuoso. He does the famous Bach Ave Maria with YoYo Ma where he sings the accompaniment and it blows my singer's mind. But his body percussion, scatting, improv.. it's all amazing.

anything from Spontaneous Inventions.Got a Grammy for it in 1987. Blackbird, Thinking about your body, and From me to you.are excellent examples of his craft. BUT.. his real thing is his ability to make anyone belong in the moment. Sounds weird? look up the segment of "spontaneous inventions" where he sings "Melanie"..Then check out the "Ave Maria. Bach/Guneau", And the "power of the pentatonic scale". Both his Jazz performances with Chick Corea, and "the Mozart sessions" also with Chick, revisiting a couple of Mozart piano concertos (with a twist) are amazing. My favorite, though is "My favorite things" Just thinking of the closing arpeggio gives me chills. Enjoy.

I'm still listening to your intro, but I'm SO excited that you grabbed this one for a start! Please tell your wife that I LOVE HER! 😀 OK...Going in... Bobby McFerrin breathes, either direction...in or out. My daughter Judi knows how to do it. Doing it and making it seem as if you are NOT breathing, is tricky, though. Here's a quote about what is called the "circular breathing technique," that Bobby employs... ""His circular breathing technique enables him to sing while inhaling and exhaling, thus allowing him to be his own background choir on 'Blackbird' and 'T. J.' He slaps himself into a percussive frenzy on 'I Feel Good' and creates the sound of static between frequencies on 'I'm My Own Walkman.'" Bobby and Yo-Yo did a full album (that this song is in). Here's Bobby's ONLY official channel... kzitem.info/rock/Ro1OSKmBh6oxs6R0ANvINg Some stuff there is only audio only, but there are also some visuals. Enjoy! Thank you, Corey, for grabbing onto this. 😀

That explains a lot about what he’s doing then, although it doesn’t make it any less crazy! What a wild technique 🤯 Hope you enjoy the rest of the video!

@@setonhillstudios I absolutely did. 😀 I also went out to the computer room, to tell Judi that you picked up on Bobby, and I mentioned the breathing thing. She and three of the boys began demonstrating the technique immediately, tossing the "scat" back and forth like the pros they are. We all have loved Bobby and his wonderful ways of making music, "FOREVER!" It was my Mom (when she was in her 70s) who bought the Yo-Yo Ma/Bobby McFerrin album. Being the pro violinist that she was, she also loved ANYTHING with strings, and Yo-Yo was always a favorite with her, after the first time she heard him. She had NO clue about what Bobby was going to add to that album, but after the first song, she was totally hooked. I had loved Bobby long before that, but had never heard Yo-Yo. So the two of us would sit and listen to the album, over and over again. She would play along with her violin, and I would sing what I could, of Bobby's part. It was from THOSE days, when Judi was a teenager, that she learned how to absolutely sing along with him, and she has taught the kids ever since then. She has a truly AMAZING voice, herself. Thanks again, for your GREAT reaction! I hope to see and hear more, down the line.
