They’re from Sheffield. It’s a city in South Yorkshire, which is a county in the north of England. They have typical Sheffield accents.

Musicality isn't just about achieving perfection in playing, it's also about character & soul. Having perfect production can feel sterile, anodyne, artificial.

I'm sure someone already mentioned this but this WAS recorded live, all in the same room. They just came off a big tour when they were like 17? There's a great BBC doc about this album.

I think what you’re calling “sloppy” guitar playing is a pretty standard ska progression. The most defining feature of ska is guitars playing on the off-beat. It sounds out of place in this context, but there doesn’t seem to be anything sloppy about it- I think it’s just because people who don’t listen to ska aren’t used to hearing the off-beat guitars and it sounds unusual.

They made this album when they were like 17-18 years old. That’s why it’s a bit sloppy, but it’s a nationwide classic overseas.
