MISA is a fabulous bassist. She has great style and feel for the song, and adapts for the situation. She finger picks when the song calls for it, she slaps when the song calls for it, she picks aggressively when the song calls for it. She's busy but doesn't draw attention to herself. If you listen during the guitar solo, she's doing her own thing both as a counterpoint and a support to Kanami. She's a rare bird.

If you like her funky bass, i recommend No God, Without Holding Back, Influencer, etc. She magically switches smoothly between picks and slaps. enjoy!

Lets not dismiss the acoustic Sayonakidori. MISA shines in that one. It's a beautiful piece.

this double take is (in my humble opinion) the perfect summary of the album Unseen World, where you can find hard rock, prog, metal and jazz combined flawlessly within a song. here, they first soften you a little with the mellow jazzy, funky old skool vibe and then gently hit you in the face and push you into a black hole, literally...

From the beginning *Miku* and *Saiki* always been a dual vocal threat and in their earlier albums they would have an amazing call and response I would check out *BAND-MAID / Beauty and the Beast*

These ladies can do anything, I'm convinced of it. Mostly they just keep doing stuff like nothing I've heard before. And that's saying something for this 60+ year old guy. Mostly they just make me smile till my face hurts.

Blackhole is insane the first time you hear it, and then after about the 20th time you hear it, you realize it's still insane, but it's Nuanced insanity. :)

The dual vocals have been a thing from the start. There are some songs where Miku takes the lead on parts (Freedom, Thrill, etc.), and even a few where she sings lead the whole song (Sayonakidori, Rock in Me), though Saiki is the main vocalist most of the time.

Aside from the impeccable - and often crucial, in that they MAKE some songs (Page, One and Only) for me - Kobato's more- recent "stunt vocals" (e.g. in "Why Why Why," "After Life," and "Manners") are just frickin' creatively brilliant.

@@stevehall5128 Her "stunt vocals," as you call them, are what makes Manners for me! I love MISA's funky bass, but it is really Miku's backups that stand out for me! I've gotten lucky with Manners so far, as it is one song they play at only some of the shows, but I got to experience it live both times I've seen them, in Chicago last year and in St. Louis a few weeks ago!

Good job!. They use the bass as part of the melody not just as a rhythm section. Much of their songwriting is based on the dialogue between the lead guitar and the bass.

They do use the occasional backing track or what have you, but it's always just a small touch - they're not one of those bands where half the stuff you're hearing isn't really being played live. They are the real deal!! And yeah, Saiki can slip back and forth between head voice and chest voice seamlessly. They're all capable of surprising the heck out of you. Most of all, nobody writes like Mincho and Miku!

Nice reaction. Yes...the frantic chaos in Black Hole is what they were going for. It is about a Black Hole after all.:) If you turn on the subtitles then the music clicks in perfectly with lyrics.

These two song cover spectrum of their music- Blues/rock to Hard rock/metal. There is some brass section in the first song. Somtimes there will also bee piano or synth by Kanami. The backing vocalist- Miku (red rose), is the founder of the band, but added Saiki for lead vocals, for a wider range, after a few early show.

Great reaction. Manners is so tasty, I always need to breath after Black Hole. I would suggest Warning and Blooming and instrumentals like Without holding back, From now on. I love what Miku brings to the mix with the BG vocals.

All the instruments on the Backing Track are played by the lead guitarist and composer Kanami, unless it's a doubled Vocal or something like that. Rihyhm Guitarist and backing vocalist, Moku, is the lyricist.

I also enjoy the funky, catchy layers in Manners. Black Hole gets recommended a lot; I guess some Maidiacs dig the punk rock mosh pit stuff. I’m anxiously awaiting your next one. It was the song that changed it for me. You ought to be prepared because “From Now On” is one of their many instrumental tracks. So no vocal harmonies to discuss. Please have good headphones and enjoy the ride!
