Thanks for this valuable info Paul! I love doing cover versions of pop songs but KZitem flags them so I can never monetize them. How do you deal with copyright and cover songs on KZitem?
@PaulTheTrombonist

Great question, just label it as “cover” in title . Not all you can monetize but some the labels will share ad revenue with youtubers

It will be in the “creator studio” if it says you can or not. I’d advise just to use covers as a way to get free traffic to you as an artist

Nice video and interesting method. I have heard of this before, however, I am hesitant about trying this method because I'm not sure if it works with my genre of music? I make calm relaxing piano music. Currently it's taking a long time to grow because this genre is saturated on KZitem, but I am doing some paid advertising with effective results. The only thing I could think of really is taking the main melody of one these songs, improving it in my style, and doing my own thing with it. However, the tempo will be much slower and I don't know if people will like that. I would like to give it a try, but I'm not sure which direction to go with my style of piano music. Take a listen and you'll see what I'm talking about. My audience LOVES my piano music. But I don't want to piss people off by making popular songs too "slow" or too "boring." lol. What are your thoughts on this?

Thats awesome! If I were you, I would do covers of unlikely tunes and apply to your genre. Example Katy Perry Firework "relaxing piano version" , Taylor Swift Blank Space "relaxing piano version" etc..

@@PaulTheTrombonist Thanks for the recommendation! Although what do you mean by unlikely tunes? How would I find others in this type of genre like you suggest? I'm not sure. If you could explain how to find more like it, or what specifically you mean by "unlikely tunes" it would be helpful.

@@PaulTheTrombonist Thanks. I found a Jason Mraz songbook on sheet music plus that has a bunch of his famous songs. I was thinking about improving them in my style to see how people would like it. I mean it's worth a shot I guess. I want to work with artists I like and I like Jason Mraz.

@@NicksOnlineTromboneAcademy you can look in your creators studio dashboard and see if the channel is growing. Keep note of where you are in subs at the beginning of each month and track it in a spreadsheet. Really learn to read you analytics and what videos your audience likes and make more of those.
