This was a very interesting conversation. Look at how the Muslim and the Sikh are respectively understanding and listening to each other, They are not shouting on disrespectful to each other, this is lovely. Peaceful and enlightening.

@sunnyr2794

@Typhoid Mary oh boy. Thanks for the insult btw, just shows your lack of education when producing a response. Sikhs are monotheistic, just ask one or do a quick google, literally all their prayers start of with ‘Ik ongar’ = ‘there is one God’. What a clown-like comment. Their five ‘pillars’ are no way same as the Islamic five pillars, it’s purely to do with identity, so you can recognise a Sikh, and it’s worked pretty well. You talk about turbans and beards like it’s something islam created, dude, islam brings nothing new do the table! All the concepts, praying/fasting/pilgrimage etc prior to islam. If anything islam is a copy paste of Judaism and a bit of Christianity. Just remember islam brings nothing new, it’s copied a horrible version of previous religions, hence you can see this through their followers. God would never send a sinner to be the best example to mankind. So why do you follow a devil? Remember momo was 50+yes old when he abused aiysha..
@sunnyr2794
3 жыл бұрын
@Typhoid Mary hahaha you are thicker than you sound! Firstly the turban is to cover your head as hair is sacred in Sikhism. Yes it might be hot, but it’s northern Indian so gets kinda of cold too, is that really your argument? You fail to answer any of my questions, I suspect you are a muslim and hence embarrassed about life in general. Educate yourself before you try and tackle other religions, islam is a nihilist death cult, find salvation elsewhere before it’s too late..
@sunnyr2794
3 жыл бұрын
@Typhoid Mary why should they use other things to cover their hair, why are you so obsessed with dress sense. You must be illiterate like your prophet, there’s no idols in Sikhism, but you guys worship a black stone lol. Islam is man made, by a moon god who sent a fool to be your most moral example. Poor aiysha. You guys have no guarantee of salvation, I suspect momo’ son hellfire as we speak, that’s what happens when a devil sends his own
@sunnyr2794
3 жыл бұрын
@Typhoid Mary you seriously have a weird obsession with clothes dude, I don’t know what it is, but you should talk to someone about it. No god will instruct you what to wear or what not to wear. He gives us free will, it’s not prescriptive like Islam is. If a god is obsessed with a dress sense of his people, then he’s a satan. Maybe you have comprehension skills, but no Sikh worships their hair, yes it’s sacred, but there’s no worship involved. If you cared to read a bit about it, one of its core beliefs is against idol worship. You say I don’t pick anything up, I don’t pick it up as you are talking from a place of idiocy, you don’t understand the scripture, just repeating what your imams say. I genuinely feel sorry for you if that’s how you approach life. Good luck following momo

I am a German Ahmadi muslim convert and I like the Sikhs, they are nice and friendly people and the Sikh religion has a lot of similarities with our interpretation of Islam. We all search for god/Allah in different ways. And many things about Sikhism sound similar to Ahmadiyya islam. Actually, the prophet Muhammad(saw) is described in Ahmadiyya media in a similar way to how Sikhs describe the ideal behaviour for a Sikh: Defending the weak against attackers, defending religious freedom, living in peace and respect and harmony with others in submission to god/Allah. It is sad how some salafi extremists have distorted Islam and the prophet Muhammad (saw) so much that it looks like the opposite of what we believe he actually was.

Just a question but how do you get the gurus blessing? I am not a Sikh but I find my self agreeing with a lot of what your religion says, but with out going in to much details about the crime I witnessed, I went after the attackers, and they are now in Prison, I did what I did because I felt it was the right thing to do, I like to protect others, I think it is in my nature, but I find it really strange how I can come across people in life, who tell me not to do these things, because its not in my job description and that I do not get paid enough to put my self at risk, I don't know how I feel about that, when my upbringing up to recently was a bit different then that, it is a bit odd to think I could possibly end up losing my job one day, by doing the right thing, I think my mind-set is pretty similar to Sikh peoples, partly due to meeting a few in my life, and partly to other people who I look up to, people look at you like if you're mad, when you say what you would be prepared to do, like him I am also not the biggest guy in the world, but morally I guess if its the right thing to do then its the right thing to do, If I die doing an action that is good, then at least I can say I tried to do some good, is it wrong to not care if I die though, I wonder if something is wrong with me, I am just not happy with how my life is right now, but hopefully it gets better, so I am able to also do a bit more good in the world, I just need the chance really, I just hope my body will follow, what my mind wants when the time for action comes, in order to save/defend others/ or prevent people from being harmed.

I am an atheist and I watched the video. I am going to give some personal philosophy and insight. People who are religious look at their religion from the inside, for lack of a better expression. Looking at a religion from the inside, a follower understands the comfort and security their religion gives them. They are largely oblivious to the harm their religion does to the world, or they think that harm is the price that has to be paid. As an atheist who once believed; there was a time when I looked at my religion from the inside. But now I look at specific religions from the outside, including the one I once believed. I can see that no religion actually has any evidentiary reason to be believed and followed. I also see the harm the various religions do; the violence, bigotry and oppression. Many Christians wonder why people believe in Islam. They wonder how anyone could follow a 7th Century alleged "prophet". Many Muslims wonder how anyone could read something as erroneous as the Bible, and are puzzled as to how anyone could believe that Jesus was actually the "son of god". The common theme is; believers have a critical eye when it comes to the religions of others, but never to their own religion. I have a critical eye towards all of the major religions. I am an atheist since I can see that no religion is worthy of following. Muslims, Christians, Sikhs all need to stop and look at religions from the outside, especially their own religion. Believers need to step outside their religion and examine its origins and the origins of its holy book in an clinical, non-devotional manner. Look at the religion's doctrine critically. Maybe you will expand to your own religion the same disbelief you have for all other religions.
@basicsofsikhi
9 жыл бұрын
Katie Anderson You're right that we should be as critical to our own beliefs as to the others. I would say that Sikhi and Atheism can co-exist, since a Sikh is not trying to convert people or condemn them if they do not believe in Sikhi and since we are very tolerant and our ethics are very enlightened, there is nothing an Atheist should be worried about with Sikhi
@katieanderson9683
9 жыл бұрын
Basics of Sikhi My personal view of any given religion is that if it gives the follower positive feelings and is not a negative either socially, or negative to the believer (I think of bigotry, oppression, etc.), then I really do not have reason to object. Like all religions I know, Sikhism puts restrictions on what are common and legal activities and behavior, so it is oppressive to a degree, but minimally, and generally not socially.
@amitsingh-pr1sw
9 жыл бұрын
Katie Anderson What restrictions are you referring to, specifically? In which ways do you find Sikhi oppressive?
@katieanderson9683
9 жыл бұрын
amit singh Any restriction of an action that would do no harm to others is by definition, oppressive. For example; disallowing consensual adult sexual relations outside of marriage is oppression. If the restriction is mandated by law, then it is legal oppression. If it is mandated by religion, then it is religious oppression. Almost all religions dictate upon its followers certain unallowable activities or actions, activities or actions that would do no harm to others. Disallowing the use of alcoholic beverages would be another example.

Katie Anderson Are you an atheist because you truly feel there is no higher creator or because you think that all religions make no sense?

as a Christian i respect Sikhi. i agree some of they saying. perhaps we other religion can learn something. its true that its not about religion and never about religion. religion its suppose to be like a bridge to God, but on the way to God its up to us how we behave and its about God, having relationship with God. lets stop saying "you religion is wrong", " my religion is the only Truth" instead maybe we should just respect eachother religion and say "pray to God, feel God's love, praise God, find God etc" because in the end its our own personal journey to know God, doing good deeds, helping eachother and have a good heart so then when we finally meet God we can say "thank you God" and not "see my religion is right" :-)

I don't agree with the karma thing he said. I am a Sikh and what I believe is that gurubani tells us that no one knows what happens after death. What matters is what you're doing at present. We don't know if there's any hell or heaven, but if we are doing wrong deeds, we are living a helish life. And if we are helpful and kind to others, we are living a heavenly life. Gurbani is all about present. Not afterlife.

It could be discussed with other perspective that the Hell/Heaven depends on deeds and the result we get would be again witnessed by our soul,which when we are dead would be formed in a form that was at its highest degree in us in last incarnation.Just a doubt.

To answer the Muslim gentleman's question regarding reincarnation - how long will the cycle of birth and death go on? Here's what it is - as long as mind (which is born out of ego) exists there is no true liberation, deliverance. All the events or experiences in life (good or bad) which we experience are within the realm of the mind. Karma is in the mind. Good karma begets good experiences, bad karma begets bad experiences. If a wo/man does a lot of good, let's say s/he does better than anyone else that has ever existed you would expect her/him to be blessed with the highest heaven there is. So also, if a wo/man does a lot of bad, s/he will experience a proportionate amount of bad experiences. Now, the point that is made in all religions but we conveniently miss out is that whether good experiences or bad, good karma or bad karma it is all in the mind. The goal of all religions is to establish communion with God. What does that mean? God is a state of absolutely no ego. To attain that supreme state we have to give up the ego, absolutely. But how is that possible if we keep cycling in the mind born out of ego?? How is it possible if we don't want to come out of the realm of the mind?? That is what the theory of reincarnation is. As long as a creature is trapped in his/her/its mind (with all the theories of karma, good, bad etc etc) he/ she/ it will keep returning back to the world stage. But, by whatever means, a creature is able to come out of the mind (matrix if you will) there will be no more births or deaths for that creature. So it is a case of 'so close yet so far'. It is right here, right now; but because we are trapped in the mind (born out of ego) the communion with God is failing. Islam has this notion of egoless state, I believe in Sufi Islam. It is called Sifr. Hinduism calls It the State of Moksha. Jainism and Buddhism call It the State of Nirvana. Sikhism calls It Akaal. Now the problem with the Christian translation of their holy text is that they call it Heaven in English. That is confusing. It is not the same heaven. There is the heaven (good experiences) that is born out of good deeds but still in the realm of the mind. The real Heaven is the one that we experience (experience is not the right word but there is no other better word for It) after the dissolution of one's ego. Now to the 100 million dollar question. If our Goal is right here, if it is just about giving up ego, if It has been mentioned in all religious texts what is the problem with us that we keep on suffering and are not able to establish the communion with God? The problem is the nature of the mind. Mind abhors Quiescence. Because if there is perfect Quietness mind ceases to exist. And like any other thing in nature mind will do anything to keep itself alive. This is where real Religion starts.
