Brilliant, Risa! I've watched you do a winged liner many times, but never really 'got it', until watching step by step with this tutorial. Showing all the different types applicators and what to stay away from is extremely useful. I can't wait to try this...cooking rn, so it'll have to wait a bit till I attempt it. Thanks so much!🥰

Risa, OMG thank you so much for this tutorial! No matter how many videos I followed, it just never came out as nicely as I wanted. I even took a makeup class once and the instructor took one look at me and told me, to skip the eye makeup altogether 😭 With your tips I actually managed to do a winged eyeliner - well, any kind of eyeliner, really - for the first time ever and I'm super happy 🥰

Risa, thank so much for this video. I also have hooded eyes and get frustrated not having "crease space" like so many women do. I have quite a few felt tip eyeliners and struggle to get the wing right, experiencing the very problems you talked about. I never even realized that a eyeliner with a flexible tip only could be of so much help. Great tips.

Thank u for highlighting the struggle a lot of women have with hooded, downturned eyes with minimal lid space! I have the added frustration of the fold continuing down past the corner of my mature eye, blocking any attempt at a wing :(. I’ve resigned to the fact that my eyes are not wingable ;) because I prefer a soft-wing look. I will try your technique, though, and hope I can achieve something pretty. Thank you for all your helpful videos and supporting us mature gals!!!

And it worked! Wow I’ve never seen my wings this good. Wow 😲 I always wondered why my left eye was better than right & answer is I always started my left up higher because of reaching over being R-handed! I never knew!! I tried it with kvd ink liner but I think you are so right on, on the tip thing. It’s got to be precise AND pretty much inflexible except the tiny part of the top of tip when you held it up. Thank you so much I’m almost giddy!

This is the BEST tutorial I’ve seen for winged liner for mature, hooded eyes. I’ve been working on winged liner Literally for years. @@RisaDoesMakeup I know you probably won't see this comment as it's super late, but I'm so glad YT put this in my recommended feed - I was on the verge of booking a makeup lesson to try to figure out this conundrum and you just solved it here. My eyes aren't quite as hooded, but they're deep-set and very much downturned at the corners; it doesn't just cause issues with liner, but with eyeshadow application in general, because of that downturned line cutting across my lower lash line. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain this in great detail.

Yup, all 3. Thanks Risa! Especially that droop on the outer lids that folds over & smudges. I gave up on anything but powder eyeshadow on a liner brush and only on the outer upper third above the lashes with 2/3 of the upper outer lid tight lined with the powder. Never wings, never pencils or liquid although I kept trying. That little crinkle on the outer corner just messed it up every time.
