Mr. Beane, my great grandfather never shod a horse by grooving out a spot for the nail. He would run the rasp under the nail, making a small groove, then clench the nail down. His draught horses never lost a shoe by him doing it this way ever when he was logging or working a field. He was known as the best horseman in 4 counties. People brought their young stock to him to help them train them up for the field and winter logging. I still have a couple of his rasps and his clenchers that he made. Best Regards from a Retired Paramedic, a S&R Dog and Handler Team Trainer and Horse Trainer in Ontario, Canada, Jenn 💖🇨🇦🇬🇧

Thank you for sharing this with us Jennifer. Your great-grandfather must have been an incredible farrier! Greetings from the other side of the pond 👋

@Mustad Hoofcare He was a great horseman all around. Thank you. To know I have his tools, and that I now use those rasp on young stock and babies to get them Level as their first "farrier" work makes me proud. Best Regards from across the pond, Jenn.💖🇨🇦🇬🇧

Steven. I didn't get to finish watching the show live. I would like to know what photo program you use to photograph the foot with your Ipad.

Hi Taylor! Thank you for the comment. Steven has won the Farrier World Championship in the Calgary Stampede many times. Maybe the next time he is around he can come by and shoe some of your horses 😉🔨🐎

Hi! Really Nice video and excellent explanation. Only the video taker is breathing loud in the video, you can hear that (its distracting)

This is ridiculous. We already Pay 175£ for a normal shoeing. Farriers are NO mathematicians. Other than The money..
