Very informative! I’ve been scratching my head for months wondering if there was *anything* in my rack I could use as a sequential switch, to avoid having to purchase a dedicated module. This answered my question, and explained the setup very clearly and concisely!

Appreciate the demo. I'm at the early 'stages' (apologies) of building my rack, and have lately been feeling the need for a variety of utilities (switches in particular at the moment) but have been reluctant to get dedicated single function units for lack of knowing what I REALLY need... I've been appreciating how MI modules seem to cover a lot of different ground in one module always with a SUPER intuitive user experience. I hadnt really understood stages, but this totally illuminates some of the layers. Appreciate it!

Very nice sequencing and an excellent demo of one use for Stages! Thanks.

Cool stuff. A shift register is another tool that can be useful for these kinds of tricks.

I had way too much trouble wrapping my head around this patch. So this is effectively the opposite of Shifty? I just got my Stages recently.

I’ve been having a hard time getting the hang of Stages functions. This helped a lot! Thanks! I like the sequences you show before patching them into Stages. Can you please explain how you achieved them? I see Maths going to the uScale and Poly. What else is patched into Maths?

I seem to recall having 3 sequencers going in this patch. Rene, Popcorn and Brain Seed. I may have quantized the brain seed to a specific scale using the uScale, and maybe attenuating the voltages from brain seed going into uScale using Maths.

Maths is right in the middle of my rack and gets used as an LFO, envelope generator, attenuator etc very often. It serves many useful functions.

interesting. I see the sequencing and the S&H are patched identically, but in the S&H the pitch given at the moment of the trigger is, well, sampled and held, whereas in the sequencing, several pitches come from the active sequencer and are happily passed on. Is the only difference between the S&H and sequencing that the S&Hs have only _one_ stage assigned or am I missing something?

The way Stages patches, it assumes each stage after a gate input is part of that block, until it comes across another gate input... thus the patching from right to left. In this patch, stages 3, 4, 5 and 6 are part of a sequential switch patched with a gate on channel 3 that advances the sequence. The sample and hold is patched on channel 2, and since there is a gate patched into channel 3 it sees it as just one stage. The manual probably explains it better than I could.
