I am 70 years old, and after a lifetime of classical music, I find I appreciate more and more the honesty of what some regard as "simple works". Simple to play and/or listen to. I find more and more pleasure in these works nowadays.

After the wild popularity of his Op. 36, Clementi re-published many of his "easier" sonatas as sonatinas. Just marketing. Clementi was a good businessman besides just a good musician.

@@JuanSantos-yq1jn Oh, of course. My use of "good" wasn't denigrating at all. He's absolutely one of my favorite composers, and I believe him to be criminally underrated. Beethoven actually adored Clementi's music, and saw his piano sonatas as ideal pieces of music for study. He even regarded his music in general as superior to Mozart's. From that musical admiration and trust, Beethoven gave Clementi complete, and sole publishing rights to his music in England.
