@GN Online "Are those... civilians? No- nononono, NO no *NO!* " "This can't be real..." That end mission though, THAT is the one that got me bad. Credits roll, post credit cutscene begins where your rescue arrives, they reach out to get you, your camera spins around... and then suddenly "Chapter 13, epilogue" **ammo counter and target reticle appear.** I audible yelled "NOOOOO DON'T MAKE ME DO THAT" when that happened. Aside from the clunky combat system and tincan audio, the story makes the game phenomenal.

this may sound fucked up but this is my favorite mission, the way Private Allen knows that he has to kill the civilians unless he blows his cover is quite haunting, it goes against everything he was told not to do in the rangers and yet he is doing just that. all in the name of protecting his country and in the end he only doomed it

@onilion5679

It's one of the first red flags of Shepherd's betrayal later on in the game as future reference. When he said that "It would cost him a piece of himself". That was the first sign in the story as later on you realised that Shepherd knew Makarov would discover his identity before the massacre started, but Makarov used him as a catalyst for the near future. He was a puppet used by both Shepherd and Makarov. Makarov used him as the one who "lights the match", as Price references in the next game. Americans think of Allen as a Martyr, and most the Russians still blame America for the massacre. Shepherd intentionally sent him to die to lessen the other perspectives on his own point of view so he could right history in his own image by any means necessary.

Also worth noting, this theme for the massacre and for Allen's death mimics the theme of the final fight with Shepherd especially during the end of No Russian, and his betrayal during Loose Ends mimics the first theme for Wolverines!, when America is first invaded. It's interesting that despite Makarov being held to blame for Allens death and the invasion of the US for most of the game, once you reach Act III one might realize through the music that the game instinctively ties these things together and fixates you to the real villain of 2; Shepherd. Balfe's way of expressing the story arc at this point truly is amazing.

Makarov and General Shepard was working together not as a team but to reach their own goals. Basically used to spark world War 3. Think about it. Why would a general hand pick a private in the army that's just did one battle to do a top secret cia mission that general Shepard said himself "it cost a lot of money to get you next time him" also markov is very smart and use the private Cia puppet and killed him off at the end like it was a gift from Shepard. In real life we know the Cia is sparking wars all around the world. Definitely sticks to the theme of modern warfare. Good thing both of them Is dead.

I agree with you on how much tension and anxiety the airport mission's music generates. It would be even scarier if Nintendo, Activision, and Arika were to add a Call of Duty 2009: Modern Warfare 2 theme for Tetris 99 and that skin was based on the "No Russian" level, complete with this as the music scheme: 99 Players: Airport Stalk (Alternate Multiplayer Version) - 0:00 50 Players: No Russian (Level 4's Main Theme) - 3:26 10 Players: Ordinance (also used in "Endgame" level) - 8:24 The elevator ding would be the "50 players remaining" notification sound, and the multiplayer mode's Tactical Nuke acquisition sound would be the "10 players remaining" notification sound. Double Cross (10:48) would be used as the victory and defeat themes because the player dies at the end of the "No Russian" level; without any music in the results screen after "Double Cross" finishes, the MW2 skin would truly feel like the "No Russian" level from start to end. It all sums up why the "No Russian" level's music themes sound like a mix of tension, anxiety, and fear.

What makes this scary is the fact that it sounds muffled, like it's playing in your head as you commit genocide inside the airport. Then, later on, it gets louder as you finish murdering everyone, and then it escalates to the "oh shit, this isn't gonna end well" music around 8:24, right as you're walking up to the van to "escape." Bravo, Infinity Ward.
@jorgemoreno5585
3 ай бұрын
That is right. It would be even scarier if Tetris 99 gets a skin based on Call of Duty 2009: Modern Warfare 2 and the music/sound scheme comes from the airport level, complete with a Russian airport in the skin's background. 99-player music: Airport Stalk (Muffled Multiplayer Version) - 0:00 50-player notification sound: Elevator Ding (when leaving the airport's elevator) 50-player music: No Russian (Level 4 Main Theme, Loud Full Version) - 3:26 10-player notification sound: Tactical Nuke acquisition sound (there were no other suitable sounds from the airport level) 10-player music: Ordinance (Level 4 version, different from what plays in "Endgame" level) - 8:24 "Double Cross" (10:48) would be the winning theme and the losing theme because the player's character, Joseph Allen, dies at the end of the "No Russian" level. By not using any music in the results screen at all, the MW2 skin's music/sound scheme would be like the airport level. It is why the airport level music/sound scheme would be much more anxiety-inducing in Tetris 99 than in the airport level in Call of Duty 2009: Modern Warfare 2. My explanations really do sum up why the airport level music is terrifying stuff. Your explanation is well-done, and so is mine. Remember, Arika - no Russian.

You know it is well-done when I would sometimes play that music scheme in the background while I watch videos of 99-player battle royale games where the last one standing wins. It fits very well when playing Tetris 99. The 3-second countdown sound would be the elevator floor sounds before the elevator arrives, and Vladimir Makarov saying "С нами Бог (S nami Bog - God is with us.)" would begin the match before the elevator arrives. 0:00 - when Vladimir Makarov says "S nami Bog" to begin the match. 3:26 - when the elevator dings to signify its arrival when 50 players are left. 8:24 - when the Tactical Nuke acquisition sound plays to signify that 10 players are left. 10:48 - what each of the 98 eliminated players hears upon losing, and what the last one left hears upon getting a Tetris Maximus (win). Without any music in the results screen after "Double Cross" finished, that music scheme would be a lot more anxiety-inducing in Tetris 99 than in the actual airport level. Remember, Arika - no Russian. If Tetris 99 were to have a theme based on Call of Duty 6 (2009): Modern Warfare 2, or if someone were to play Tetris 99 in an airport, this would be the music scheme. 0:00 - when Tetris 99 enters an airport to begin the battle royale puzzle match. "С нами Бог." (S nami Bog, or "God is with us." in Russian) 3:26 - when 50 players are left and the elevator dings. "Remember - no Russian." 8:24 - when 10 players are left and an alarm sounds. "30 seconds! Go!" 10:48 - what eliminated players hear upon losing, and what the last one left hears upon winning. "That was no message. This is a message." That would be much scarier and more nerve-wracking in Tetris 99 than in the "No Russian" level. Even the quotes go well with the music sequence and the notification sounds (elevator ding at 50 players, with multiplayer Tactical Nuke acquisition sound at 10 players). The airport level is frightening because it is supposed to be disturbing.

Quiet Kids jokes really took a dark turn, with the school shooting in Texas. I can only imagine the music, that probably would have played during the shooting. I have a feeling, the more dark jokes are said - the more people will begin to commit infamous crimes.
