They will make very nice clones. Thanks for sharing Chris

This variety needs to be grown by more people. One of my top figs for 2023. I am glad to be sharing with a few close friends.

I would also recommend zip tying a piece of wood or other spacer below the air layer container. That way when it comes time to remove it, you remove the spacer and have the necessary space to cut it off without damaging the tree or the roots too much.

Looks like a good approach, with lots more capacity than I usually use. Does merely scraping, vs. the girdling I always do, yield roots well? I thought it was necessary to girdle and even scrape away any remaining cambium layer, in order to induce rooting in air layers?

Either way works fine. The top cuts were not as deep as the back cuts. Rub off the green to show white. I will post a future video to show results. I love the way the roots grow in a tree pot. Thanks for watching!

I wonder if you could use a clear container like a large clear soda cup from McDonald's to allow the full root view and a similar shape. Might have similar but smaller capacity

That should work like a charm!

i did exact thing last year. , using a 4x9 pot. on my inground chicago hardy. I didn't know the root development though , i just removed it at the end of the season.

Time frame relates to outside temperatures. Just keep checking every month or so.
