I was given the Master Cardiology by my dad who used it during his time as a nurse and I used it throughout my time as an EMT, nursing school, and for about a year as an RN. I'm not sure how long my father had used it prior to me... but I totaled about 7 years myself and I can say it performed flawlessly every time. The only reason why I do not use it now is because I wanted to keep it as a lasting memory of my dad and so it is hanging next to my diploma. I've moved to a Cardiology IV as my "daily driver" due to her exact point of it being a little hefty throughout the shift. Otherwise, all those who are interested in the MC Littmann will not be disappointed.

What's the point of that stethoscope??? Cardiology IV has a diaphragm and bell, but Master only diaphragm. The bell and diaphragm of a stethoscope serve distinct purposes. The bell, smaller and concave, is designed to capture low-frequency sounds such as heart murmurs. Conversely, the diaphragm, larger and flat, is optimized for high-frequency sounds, making it ideal for listening to breath, bowel, and normal heart sounds.

I am a FNP student and I am debating between the Littman Master Cardiology vs Cardiology IV stethoscope. Is the Master Cardiology good to assess pediatrics? The Cardiology IV states that is for pediatrics but not this one. Thanks
@thesunnyedge
3 жыл бұрын
The diaphragm on the littmann master cardiology is quite large and heavy but as far as assessment goes, I still find it works well on pediatrics. I have not used the cardiology IV but it does have the bell so that’s likely why it’s preferable for pediatrics.

Its funny. I had a doctor one day come in with his $10 stethoscope and he could not hear anything. So he asked if he could borrow mine. And he was blown away at the quality of the master cardiology. The next day he ordered one for himself. LOL I so wanted to tell him how can you compare a $10 stethoscope to a $250 stethoscope.

@@thesunnyedge im just curious, is the small side of the stethoscope actually useful? I read online that I can hear the low and high frequencies by changing the pressure so is there a functional benefit in having two diaphragms? thank you so much!
@thesunnyedge
3 жыл бұрын
@@vicimed8799 the bell (small side) of the stethoscope detects low pitched sounds while the diaphragm detects higher pitched sounds. Some stethoscopes, such as my master cardiology stethoscope, are pressure-sensitive meaning they function as both a diaphragm and bell depending on the pressure applied when using it.

@@thesunnyedge thanks! I have two littmanns, and both have some dings and scuffs (both the master classic and the master cardio) but they're just stainless steel.
